It's probably a touch melodramatic, I agree :stongue:
Thanks for sharing though. My great-grandparents left after WWI, but I'm still fascinated by recent Balkan history. My parents did a whole two-week trip through Croatia last summer and I really wish I could have gone along.

If you ever do decide to go, my advice would be to rent a car and just drive along the coast. Great driving roads and great scenery.
Start in Poreč
and dont stop until you reach Dubrovnik.
Plenty of clubs, beaches and slutty croatian girls along the way that will keep you entertained.
or if you prefer just to party...Island of Pag, Zrće beach. Good time guaranteed. Its actually against the law to not have fun there.
Damnit this years summer was way too short...

Ahhhhh Club Papaya. I really need to go there. It's like Hvar used to be.

Surely you're confusing Gorbachev with Yeltsin?

Dubrovnik really might be one of the most photogenic cities in the world. Man, now I want to start saving. :)

It's a bit overhyped and definitely overpriced. It's nice to go to but there are better places.

It's amazing how quickly people adjust to their social situation. My mum came from a working class background and a terrible childhood. She didn't learn to ride a bike until age 45. My Dad came from a wealthy background and has very much raised my mum's expectations.
On birthdays and other occasions we usually get together and go to a very nice restaurant where my mum will complain that the music is too loud, that the air-conditioner is on too much or that her cutlery has a speck of dirt on it. It never ceases to amaze me how seemingly ungrateful she is. I'm usually happy just to be eating nice food with my family in complete safety. *holier than thou.* :gsmile:
You often see this kind of thing with second-generation immigrants too. Their parents run from war or poverty and then work 16 hour days in their new country to give the kid a good life. The child then refuses to get a job as a teenager because they want to take drugs and drive a flashy car instead...and wear too much fake tan...and too much hair gel. :p

That's like calling someone with a head unbeheaded or a normal person undisabled. Don't be bitter that your parents chose to mutilate you as a child for no reason. What's done is done, get over it.

Who said anything about being mutilated?

Nevermind it's a personal thing I have against circumcision as a cultural practice.. I could go on about it for ages, but it'd hijack the thread.
