I did go to Electric Zoo, though, just with 2 other guys, but couldn't find the TA meetup/wasnt able to make contact to too many ppl. Probably a bit tougher on huge festivals like these, especially if sober. |
It was fairly publicized when and where it was. Lots of people were there. Granted it probably helps when you know a few by face, though. |

you should be fine, i'm not that far from where you are and i've lived in this apartment for a bit over 2 years. i can't say i've ever really feared for my safety. the only time my roommate has ever been hassled in the area was while he was walking through morningside park at some ungodly hour. he's at columbia too and thinks walking through a park alone at 3am makes sense |

It is kind of interesting how the scenery changes within one single street, though. For example, how much Broadway differs from Amsterdam at night from the 90th up. Also, going further to the East to CPW and crosing all those projects where those guys are hanging out all night long isn't too nice either. Still far away from 'crime', though.
@get nyce, thanks for the tipp, will check it out. Good thing I'm seeing those 'international columbia chicks' basically every day ;) |

I am from Manhattan, born and raised but live in Bk now. Most of you seem to have limited tourist experiences and expectations of NYC. We have amazing culture, entertainment, nightlife, art, food, transportation, you name it. As much as some people don't want to admit it, NYC is always in the top three for world cities.
People are not rude here, you get what you give. We have nice neighbors and while I don't say good morning to everyone I see, a smile is implied. People are busy here, there is a lot to do. You work very hard here because there is always someone else that wants your job, there is a lot of pressure.
How do you think NYers feel when you're standing in the middle of the block because you're looking up at some building and obstructing our way to get somewhere? I think a lot of tourists are very inconsiderate. This isn't Disney Land, we're not on display for your benefit. We don't say hi, we don't drink cosmos, go to Magnolia, wear scrunchies, wear sweater jackets, or fanny packs. There isn't some guy waiting to shank you at Rockefeller Center where you wait forever for ice skating. I have news for you, there is an amazing rink and I'm not telling where it is.

i have never taken the train to JFK.
ACE scares me and always runs fuking retarded. 2/3 don't run on the weekend lol.
Anyways, LGA is pretty fuking easy to get to. I love that it's close to my job so I sometimes leave after work.
Jump on the N train.. get off at astoria blvd and right under the train is the bus that'll take u to the airport. |
You want super fast to JFK? Take the Airtrain from Jamaica Station, fastest from Penn or Atlantic to Jamaica. Your ride will be less than 30 min.

Firstly, what the is Bk? Not everyone is from your country and knows what you are talking about.
Secondly, it's very funny that you say "How do you think NYers feel when you're standing in the middle of the block because you're looking up at some building and obstructing our way to get somewhere?" This just confirms that attitude that people have in New York; they're busy, and they don't have time to waste by helping people.
Personally, I think that's house. How much time does it take to change direction because a tourist is in your way while they are admiring your city? Is it really that much of an issue, or are you so ing important that you can't spare one second of your day? Is getting to an appointment really more imperative than helping someone with a trivial inquiry that takes no effort on your behalf? If New Yorkers act the way you are implying, then I would say that they are a bunch of selfish cunts and I am going to make a point of approaching as many strangers as possible with trivial questions next time I am there. |

Bk= Brooklyn, there are plenty of tourists that know that.
It is a very busy city. Are you too slow to get that? People are rushing from one place to the other.
You question what it is like when tourists are in your way when you're midtown trying to get from A to B. Go ahead, try to cross 5th and 50th like I had to yesterday. I am not going to be rude and shove people, there were tourists just standing like it is a ing park, looking up at something. I never said I wouldn't help someone if they had a question, I do it all the time. Your attitude is exactly the entitlement complex that all tourists have when they visit. This is a live working city, not ing Disney Land.
Instead of thinking about what I'm "implying", ing read what I say, your reading comprehension is horrible. |
