Johnny is always making sure everyone is having a good time. As a matter of fact he's already there setting up with Loc and the crew at Circus since this morning. He wishes he could just relax and not have to run around. His phone is constantly buzzing. As soon as he has a minute to breathe someone always wants something. How about giving Johnny a break tonight to listen to one of his favorite DJ guys? |

Hell, even TSG agrees! When's the last time that happened? Seriously. Years? :-)
It's an opinion and nothing more. But still, overexposure can and does occur. I was just stating that, and giving an example of why. And because I don't want to shove this opinion down peeps throats, I stated I was only gonna make that post regarding it in this case that one time and one time only. (of course, easier said than done...!) There was nothing "negative" about the post. It was an opinion on what could happen if a DJ is booked too much too often. This is nothing reflective on the quality of the DJ or anything.
And yes, the DJ name sweetnuts is awesome. :) |

For the most part, I would say its not healthy for the same DJ to play the same club to the same crowd week in and week out. But of course there are a few djs that have become legendary for doing just that. |

The only trance DJ I can think of is...maybe Markus when he did Sunrise sets every Sunday morning at space? But it was his radio show that made him blow up.
Other than that, when you hear about DJs like that they are typically prog DJs or something. I think maybe because they tend to not narrow in on the same tracks every week in and week out. Most trance DJs do, in my experience. Then again, not like I've seen every trance DJ out there!
Taj up in SF plays nearly every weekend, but that guy can play basically any style he wants in the end and go in so many directions. He's built the rep of knowing that can be done, though. Most DJs can't do that, not even the DJs a lot of us consider the best. |

I agree with you, Dave. I didn't think your post was negative at all. Unless the DJ is versatile and knows how to switch things up, some DJs can get overplayed and burnt out. It takes experience and talent to know how to change things up. That's why I would switch from progressive to trance to electro to tech house each week at Circus to keep things interesting when I was playing weekly.

Now I understand. Omg, We had so much fun last night. This is the first time we danced till the lights came on and kept wanting more. His music was unbelievable. It wasn't about the props or where the DJ booth was located, it was all about the music. This is one genuine and down to earth DJ. It was awesome of him to close out the night just because we were screaming at the top of our lungs that we wanted more. Seriously what DJ would do that? |

That is awesome to hear! I don't think it has been the only night this year where everyone was dancing until the end and wanting more, but those nights are always the best! :D |
