You can absolutely hate me for this, but in my honest opinion, DJ's are unnessencary.
First of all, "trance" is a very complex and repetitive music genre. So trying to play all elements in a tune would be very hard and very boring, so why not just push play on an advanced stereo too look you'r doing something important and awesome the same way a guitarist handles his "gun". If you just push play, then you have no reason of showing in public.
OK, I know, you have to blend in tracks with one and another, that's what buildups and breakdowns are made for (That's what I call intro respectively outro, I call breakdown for preperation or pre-peak), but with today's technology, you can do that in forehand at your computer.
Seriously? Why even have DJ's? Why not just have a huge mother-effing led-screen with pretty graphics?
Also, I kinda compare the "trance" scene with restaurant cuisine. The producers are the chefs and the DJ's are the servants. So if you find a meal extraordinarily great, you want to give tip to the chef, but of course, the servant gets the tip, because (s)he thinks you're giving credits to him/her.

And this is precisely what is wrong with society. Let's just take the human element out of everything.

Hey, I'm just to say my point of view. Besides, this is "trance"-addict, not club life addict (Probably, this is something I'll regret a few years later, that I said).
Also, as an off-topic side note, I've got Aspberger's Syndrome, so I might have a hard time understanding if you're ironic or not.

Although people may think and have reason to think that a dj is unnecessary those who have seen a good dj in action can't think like you.
1st of all there is a thing called flow that a machine can't achieve, involving track selection, mixing etc...
A machine can't know what people wants, a dj can.
A machine has pretty lights, but can't interact with the crowd, the dj has also lights behind him.
A few years ago if you wanted music you needed a dj, now you can download a cd from the internet and press play don't need vinyls but a dj is still necessary.
Now that mixers are starting to include automix functions and some programmes tell you what track you can mix after the playing one the dj work is becoming underated but it's still necessary. |
