Maemo 5 has gotten really good reviews. Very responsive and all that. If I remember correctly, there is going to be a firmware/software update for the N97, but I could be wrong.

V20. Installed it last night. Much more responsive :toothless |

I have the Garmin Navigation app on my blackberry storm. I think i paid 80 for a life time subscription. It sucks. It does not cache the information so once out of service range, you are screwed. What's worse is that it does not tell you that it lost service...it just keep saying that you are to go straight. Traffic info has never worked, but regardless it is not overlayed on the map route. You have to exit and click on a Traffic Incident screen. Not so great to avoid detours, like a 3 hr traffic jam that would have been nice to know about.
The closer the droid is for release, the more i'm hating my blackberry |

The only redeeming qualities of the N900 is the fact that it is full on Linux and the storage capacity that is built in. The HTC Leo aka HTC HD2 is the most badass phone to date. 1ghz cpu and 488MB of ram. Put Maemo 5 on there or Android and  |
that HTC is running Windows mobile 6.5.
Hardware wise I'd have to agree with you but overall I'd still take the N900. |

Like I said, Android or Maemo 5 on that thing would just own. I am 100% positive that Android would get ported to it. Most smartphones are going to have the Tegra, Snapdragon or Cortex A9 cpu soon also. So, this is pretty much a transition phase. I am working to help get Android on my own Windows Mobile phone as it is. |

I still use Google Maps and Poynt, but nothing for turn-by-turn. I read that Poynt integrated with some GPS app developer firm to offer turn-by-turn, but it wasn't available for the Storm, though other BBs. However, I have heard really good things about VZ Navigator's turn-by-turn. |

bad thing about VZ Navigator: it cost $120 per year. Unless you have a non-smartphone like an Env. Then you could just hack it and get it for free.
edit: per year, not month. |
