Hence the IMO.. That's fair enough. Although if I'm paying that amount of money for a laptop I tend to care a little about it being white that is easily scratched and will look battered after having it for a while (especially if you use it to play out).

I know for a fact that the unibody and older aluminium Mac's bodies hold out extremely well.

Anyway as you said, It's just white. It's what it does that's important :)

i hope they go back to black in the future, i dont wanna look like a macboy with these fancy looks, laptops should be black, period, all electronics should really. also hopes that they come with Bluray soon, and HDMI. And hopefully RCAs output for sound. To call it Pro the sound should be Pro too imo, so that we can cut out that external cards .

An external soundcard is always going to do the job better than any components you'd be able to ram into a laptop.

I wouldn't want them lobbing in loads of features that only achieve a mediocre result.

HDMI would be handy for hooking the laptop up to the TV. But, with a DVI-HDMI adaptor you could hook your DVI output (older macbookpro's) up to a tv and then just route your sound through some external speakers. (hassle but none the less it would work).

From what i remember DVI output is actual 1080?? Someone correct me on that if I'm wrong.

I wouldn't pay extra to get blueray either. I'm nearly tempted these days to take my optical drive out. Apart from burning cd's for my car i have little need for it.

Personally I'd go with the MBP, purely for the aluminium body. The white one looks like a pile of e. Excuse my french.

Another question for you guys though.

Does the macbook feature the same multi touch keypad that the MBP's have?

Having bought a mac, the one thing i would never want to live without is the trackpad. It is (IMO) hands down the most impressive trackpad i've ever used. It's sleek, it's a pleasure to touch, and the multi gestures just make life so much easier. I've never ever considered buying a mouse for my laptop as the trackpad handles everything i need it to do.

So if the multi gestures don't come as standard on the macbook, get the MBP.

I definitely have to agree with N3lly on this one....the multi-touch trackpad is amazing....not sure how I functioned without it to be honest. I rarely pull out my wireless mouse, as the trackpad takes care of EVERYTHING. I bought my new Macbook during the ~6 month period where Apple sold the Macbook in the aluminum case with all of the features. It's not the Macbook Pro, and I would definitely opt for the aluminum finish if available, but I LOVE my aluminum Macbook. You can sometimes find them on Ebay or MacMall still. New Macbooks are back to the plastic shells.

OK, decided to get the MBP on Amazon rather than at a local retail store. I'll save over $500 that way. But I was talking about it with a friend and he told me to look at Apple.com's refurbished computers. Turns out that the better version of the 13" (the one with 250GB of HDD, 4GB of RAM, and 2.53GHz processor) is only $150 more ($1299, refurbished against the $1149 of the new 2.26GHz one on Amazon).

Anyone have any experience with Apple's refurbished models? Are they worth it, considering you get the same warranty you would get for a brand new one?

:D

For peace of mind you could get the apple care program. Costs a bit but you get 3 years of peace of mind which really is sweet. :)

Just got a new one from Amazon. Read very different things about the refurbished units from Apple, mostly good ones but it turns out you have to pay takes for the refurb units on apple.com so it's not such a bargain anymore. :p

i got a furnished macbook pro and have never had any issues with it and as you say you're still covered by the warranty so it makes sense in my eyes.

As soon as i get my tax return im selling my Vaio and grabbing an MBP...so tired of Windows.

I was using an old iMac from 98 until a few years ago actually. I miss mac :(

I recently bought a macbook for my wife. After doing much research and speaking with the apple techs and a good friend who works in the field the two pieces of advice everyone gave me was a)if its a 13inch mac you want then the pro is not worth the extra money and b) always buy refurbished from apple.
