one of my friends did this at their wedding last year. it was in a resort in fiji, they basically turned the bar on the beach over to us for a week including a late night after the reception dinner. had a decent sound systsm installed already but we could not find anywhere in fiji to rent tt's so had to haul some from oz with us.
was fun for the 50% of the crowd who were young un's and a few of the older people put in a good effort, now sure how well it went down with the rest of the relatives, but it was more of an add on to the normal wedding than replacing it.

I wonder why all those posts by "palm" got deleted. Whatever, the input here is quite nice, gave me some good ideas. The most probable way wil be to marry in spring kinda quitely with just closest family and friends and have a smashing outdoor party in summer. :)

You might want to re-think that statement. Consider your own wedding in say...10 years time. Who will the majority of the crowd be? That's right, your friends and people of similar age to you. Playing music that your generation likes is completely appropriate rather than having some -arse DJ hammer out Summer of '69 and Sweet Dreams for the eight-thousandth wedding in a row. Of course, that doesn't mean playing darkpsy or some other ridiculously inaccessible form of electronic music. Rather, something like Fatboy Slim, Groove Armada or Daft Punk would be entirely appropriate. Besides, it's your wedding. Who wants to hear music at their own party?

Those artists you mentioned would be perfectly acceptable, great songs from each of those guys, but I won't be playing plod club house or trance at my wedding simply because most of my friends aren't really into it. Fatboy Slim isn't exactly 4x4/EDM as some house or trance, and I would definitely get into that if it was played.
My friends don't really mind it, but I wouldn't want to have a DJ play anything that the crowd couldn't enjoy, and I just couldn't see my friends getting into a "techno" DJ to be honest.
