So opaits and MDMA would work too then.
Personally, when I suffered my major depressive episode I found illegal drugs, casual sex, and reading Nietzche helped me out... maybe doctors should perscribe E, whores, and Beyond Good and Evil. |
See, Craig is making an excellent point here. Depression is different for everyone, and what works for one person may not work for another. The best treatment comes from knowing the whole picture of the person's life, i.e., what are the major factors that are contributing to their depression. For some people it may be poor diet and exercise, for others it may be lack of social support/poor emotional connections. Or lack of whores and Nietzche. |

For all the years I spent at sketchy underground raves, I have never stopped loving eurodance, and never will. |
"i'm serious as cancer when i say rhythm is a dancer"
lololol. so many childhood memories. music like this MUST be the reason why i listen to EDM nowadays.. it's the only explanation. i swear i know almost all of those tracks by heart, just from banging them out on the radio in 4th grade during recess or lunch :stongue: one of the girls i used to hang out with back then had a mixtape of all of those tracks that we used to get down to in elementary school :p
also @ moral hazard- they actually used to use opiates for treatment-resistant depression back in the day.. obviously not anymore though. |

yep.
imo, save for some physical problems with the brain, depression can be overcome by understanding how emotions are formed and being aware of what you're feeling at the moment and why.
getting people to admit that they're the cause of their depression and having them take a hard look at their thought processes is another matter though :P
not only that, a lot of psychologists/psychiatrists don't really understand it themselves, and therefore can't truly help their patients other than give them advice or medication that never will solve the root cause of these peoples' problems. |

Yep, all very true. Like I said...you have to see the whole picture, patterns in a person's life, and what their coping skills have been - if any. |

What about those people that reuptake serotonin faster than normal. They lose their good feeling quick and feel like when they do not have exercise. Have you ever laid around your house all day not wanting to do anything? Or laid in bed not wanting to get up? Try doing laundry or cleaning dishes at that point. That is what it feels like for a depressed person to try to do normal everyday things that need to do to live a semi-healthy life.
Since it is multi-faceted, most depression is misdiagnosed. that is why psychologists do not know wtf depression is.
, and I have never even studied depression :wtf: |
