they are always adjusting their sound to suit the crowd they are playing for. i dont think it is fair to say anyone imitates others. djs and producers find the sound that they like and thats how they play. its just that toronto tends to prefer only a couple types of "sounds" so thats why so many of our djs play that way to satisfy our population.

Yeah exactly. I may have only partied in a few other cities outside of TO, but I've definitely noticed that DJs play differently everywhere they go, no matter what their "sound" is. That's part of the skill of being a dj, really.

toronto has tons of new locals that keep popping up.
you just never see their names because most people only focus on ink and circa and footwork.

Maybe the sound is really easy to pigeon hole, and Dubfire is a good poster boy, for the sound that Toronto has been experiencing in the last couple of years.

From this thread: Too Much Techno, Tech house and minimal [in Toronto], that really was what Toronto has been about. And what does Dubfire play...

Arnej has some good productions but I don't think he spins in T.O.

Look at lineups at Paaeez, Li'ly for example. Or check out other promoters.. the break and enter parties and dirtycycle parties have caught my attention lately.

Its simple.if you want something new, go someplace new.

Yeah the Toronto locals are sweeeeet but it seems like its been the same locals for as long as I can remember (been in TO since like 2006). It seems hard for other DJs to penetrate that guv/til/hotel/cobra/FW circle of DJs! They seem to have a monopoly over the city... well at least a monopoly of the big events that everyoen goes to.
