(i'll stick to the question in subject line) lol
All though Howells is hugely influential, I don't know about here. He isn't here all that often. I understand that doesn't matter as much today due to the internet, but I still think it plays a role in creating buzz, creating a culture, and getting people behind a sound. More gigs = more exposure, and more into that sound.

Yeah the Toronto locals are sweeeeet but it seems like its been the same locals for as long as I can remember (been in TO since like 2006). It seems hard for other DJs to penetrate that guv/til/hotel/cobra/FW circle of DJs! They seem to have a monopoly over the city... well at least a monopoly of the big events that everyoen goes to.
Yeah. I respect a guy like Carlo Lio who has been a local DJ on rotation for a while and now making a name for himself elsewhere in the world through producing. Unlike the majority of other local DJs who are basically just content with playing the same old stuff and not growing or pushing themselves with their sounds or their "talent". Producing is key, most people know that. Monopolies suck. I wish the big promoters gave other uknown DJs who take risks a shot.
