Oscar: I went with a bunch of friends. Typical night out, I guess. I was expecting to have fun and enjoy songs I used to like by him. But he only played an hour. I laid off $40 bucks, waited in the entrance for over 45 minutes with a million other people, the police even sprayed peppermint spray or some , for s sake! It was hell, I was really about to bounce when things calmed down so I went in. We already had a table so I had to come through.
Ivand: What I'm saying is that I don't care what Deadmau5's issue was, if he had one. But a lot of people were expecting to play longer than an hour. $40 bucks is a lot of money here so people have high expectations when they "invest" their time and money into an event. He just didn't perform as expected and his attitude was all "I'm too cool for you". Well, you (deadmau5).
I really hope he gets around to read my posts and replies to me. I'm just curious as to his lack of work ethic. Being that he's Canadian and all. :toothless |

Could go either way.
However, festival organisers are on a limited budget, and they may not have been able to afford to pay deadmau5 to play for longer if a cheaper DJ was following up. In fact, seeing as this gig was in Panama, I'd say that's almost certainly the case. |

For one to say they're 'pretty sure' someone else is x implies that the subject either identifies themselves as x, or that x is a readily detectable trait or characteristic of that person which others may be able to confirm through observation. Of course, I know the meaning of the word, but what I ask is how exactly does one decide who is a troll and who is not? Where is the line drawn? When does one stop becoming an annoying user and become a troll? Is a person who is a in real life, and by extension, on forums, considered a troll, or are trolls only those who exert conscious effort to appear as such? Can trolls still contribute to forums in constructive ways? Is Kismet an idiot? |

I know people that paid $500 to see him in Vegas at the MGM at Wet Republic. You got off lucky. Consider yourself lucky. One of the worst sets I have ever heard live. There were a few Canadians in the crowd all excited to see him. It was a big deal for them. They enjoyed it, but I thought it was and so did every other DJ in the crowd. I'd seen him play at Circus here in Hollywood in 2007 and his set was much, much better. I only caught the last 30 mins of it but I really enjoyed it. Chris Lake played before him in Vegas and had an amazing set. He really stole the show from Deadmau5 that afternoon/early evening.
I think you have to understand traveling around the world is very taxing on the body and mind. He had a lot of gigs that weekend from New York to Texas to Vegas and I can only imagine how tired he must have been from all the shows and traveling. I'm not sure what went down in Panama, but this may be the case. He may have been tired. He is laughing all the way to the bank regardless. He has the best representation and management and publicity firms working for him. It's no surprise his attitude was "i'm too cool." That's how he comes across. Money changes everything. Money + fame equals more change. He did twitter that he needed to get picked up from the hotel and it sounded like someone at that show was ing something up there.
The fact that you paid $40 to see him shows that you have bought into all the marketing hype and/or you enjoy his music. If you don't like deadmau5 anymore tell the promoters not to bring him back. If you do like him still and would like to see him play longer next time, tell the promoters to bring him back and have him play a 2 to 3 hour set. It's not likely he decided to play for only an hour and a half. The promoters usually decide that or whoever is in charge of the timeslots. When I DJ, I play until the next DJ is due to play. Out of respect for the next DJ, you play your specific time slot and then you are done. |
