The 400's are now natively supported in Traktor Pro, so you don't even need to MIDI map them or use timecode CD's at all. You can even use the soundcards in the 400's instead of using the audio 8/4 at all.

This. From the sound of it, your problem just has to do with becoming used to the feel of the different pitch slider. You really don't have to move it much at all to make an adjustment.

In the mean time you can save your money for a pair of 1000's or 800's.

I previously owned the 800mk2's before going to Tech 1200's. They're great machines but I don't think you'd like the pitch resolution. Awesome quick cuing on the platter too.

That MIDI video isn't really relevant anymore...

First, you need Traktor 1.2.3.

For my CDJ-2000's, you:

1. Create an aggregate device (in OS X) or install the ASIO driver (windows) from Pioneer which combines the two decks into a single logical sound card.

2. Select that sound card in Traktor's audio preferences.

3. Plug in the CDJ's with USB.

On the 2000's, you press "link", and the screen says "which deck to you want to control". You select a-d on each deck, and that's it!

Now the deck controls the Traktor decks. The controls work and feel like you are playing directly off the CDJ.

More like $1200 for CDJ-400s :)

But if I sell my DJM-500 (recently got a Xone),DJM-300, 2 x CDJ-700s, and Xone:2D, it's much less thinking. :)

Ryan,

Just how good is the HID support for CDJ-400's?

Scratching isn't a big deal for me, but I'd like to know how it does anyway. What do you like about it? What do you dislike about it? What just flat out does or doesn't work?

I haven't actually tried it on the 400's except with Serato. In that case, they worked extremely well, and my 2000's work great with Traktor Pro.
