| I would think it would be super easy to get a dj to come to Atlanta after or before Charlotte....They had Gareth Emery and now Andy Moor and there is not one single good dj to look forward to in Atlanta...Kinda ridiculous...Alot of people are ready for some talent yet none is coming?? I am having to go out to L.A. and Vegas just to see dj's...With a city of 4 million people we should be getting a proper name at least every other weekend! |

get mad about it.
is Atlanta some how entitled to get a DJ because another city has the same DJ? |

You cannot look at the population of the city as the driving factor. Rather, when you consider the the proportion of that population that fall into the target demographic, it makes more sense. Metro Charlotte is about half the size of Atlanta in terms of population; however, if the proportion of the population that would come out to see a good EDM DJ is three times larger, they still end up ahead.
It's all about demographics. On the bright side, on any given day in Atlanta, you can get your crunk on with TI, Kanye West, Ludacris, or Young Jeezy. Charlotte can't say that. |

Seriously, not this complaint again.........
Its obvious that we get all of the good DJ's because we have amberella and nick and you dont.

oh wow, I really hope this is not the level of education that you walk around Atlanta on a daily basis with. A thought process like that could very well keep the other great artist from ever coming to Atlanta if they found out about it.

Stop complaining! Charlotte is just better than us. Their downtown are is very nice and clean also.
You should just make the drive to Charlotte if you want to see these DJs. It's only 4 hours away which isn't far from Atlanta AND the forum is a much better club than the ty excuses we have for clubs in Atlanta. Oh and the sound system is better than anything we have here also.
Another thing to consider is that it's a Friday and making the drive on a friday afternoon isn't that bad. You can have the whole day Saturday and explore the city too. |

This is what I've been asking for months and of course the same smart remarks. Do people really think Charlotte has a bigger EDM scene? That is not the issue. Andy Moor would get just as much if not more here.
We may have a big rap scene, but that doesn't define us. Our problem is with the promoters. That is one comment I can agree with, Charlotte just has better promoters evidently. Unless Liquified or whoever else promotes in this town said they talked to Gareth Emery's people and couldn't strike a deal, I'm not buying it. Nobody tried. The same people say the same stuff in these things. Some people may have the time and money to make an 8 hour drive round trip, but most of us don't, so that's not a valid response.
I'm sure more people are going to come with the same responses, so I will go ahead and also respond to the ones who will say "we get plenty of talent, you just need to get out of trance." We get either local djs or no name djs who are trying to make a name for themselves. Sometimes there may be one who is big in the scene they play in, but rarely. The fact is, yes, touring djs that can make it to charlotte, should have no problem hitting atlanta. We just have to get someone who cares to try.
Until somebody in Atlanta steps up and starts bringing some talent like Charlotte has, I will not be going out. |

:sigh: Not this vicious cycle / self-fulfilling prophecy. Not going out --> no support for the scene --> not getting the artists that you want.
Since nobody has brought this up yet, I will -- the Atlanta is much better that Charlotte in terms of local talent. I'm not saying that there aren't talented DJ's in Charlotte; however, I would like to point out that every weekend, there are a plethora of clubs/lounges/bars/misc. venues in Atlanta featuring good local house/techno/dubstep/etc. DJ's. No, you won't find locals spinning trance, but that goes for most cities in the US. |

Some djs who came to Atlanta in 2009:
Dario Zenker
2562
Appleblim
Pheek
Konrad Black
Pier Bucci
Touane
Mathias Tanzmann
Dilo
Ramadanman
Bruno Pronsato
Lars Behrenroth
Noah D
Joe Nice
Maybe a small list to bigger cities, but Atlanta gets a good bit of international, underground talent. None of the above djs were in Charlotte last year that I know of.
Charlotte did get a good bit of electro and dubstep artists come through this year, though
What djs is Charlotte getting that Atlanta isn't? Why don't you bring those djs yourself :) |
