No I'm not, because I accounted for gap years in the very post you quoted. I went to uni with many people who'd taken years out, and I'm not passing judgement on anything. It just feels strange to hear people I consider my elders talking about things that are in my past. I've been in education for as long as I can remember, so the realisation I'll never sit another exam, write another essay or start a new term is a weird one. |
Ah, my mistake then. I clearly missed that part of your post (I blame reading from my mobile).
I can't wait to be done with school. I was happy to learn that the masters program I want to take when I'm finished with this is only 2 years, instead of the 5 I thought it was going to be. I'm so over bringing work home with me. Ughhh. |

A semester of all EECS and no math. meh. I'm trying to figure out how to milk financial aid for a ninth semester so I can take more math and finish a double major. Building robots should be cool though.
Robotics Systems & Science
Presents concepts, principles, and algorithms for computation related to the physical world. Topics covered are: motion planning, geometric reasoning, kinematics and dynamics, state estimation, tracking, map building, manipulation, human-robot interaction, fault diagnosis, and embedded system development. Students specify and design a small-scale yet complex robot capable of real-time interaction with the natural world.
Signals & Systems
Fundamentals of signal and system analysis, with applications drawn from filtering, audio and image processing, communications, and automatic control. Topics include convolution, Fourier series and transforms, sampling and discrete-time processing of continuous-time signals, modulation, Laplace and Z-transforms, and feedback systems
Intro to EECS II (Digital Communication Systems)
An integrated introduction to electrical engineering and computer science, taught using substantial laboratory experiments that explore communication signals, systems and networks. Physical characterization and modeling of transmission systems in the time and frequency domains; analog and digital signaling; coding; detecting and correcting errors; relating information transmission rate to signal power, bandwidth and noise; engineering of packet-switched networks. These explorations are used to illustrate the role of abstraction and modularity in engineering design; building reliable systems using imperfect components; selecting appropriate design metrics; choosing effective representations for information; analyzing the performance and correctness of algorithms; and tradeoffs in complex systems.
and maybe
Intro to Visual Arts
Introduction to contemporary artistic practice and aesthetic analysis through studio work and lectures based on current themes. Students communicate ideas and experiences through a range of media such as sculpture, installation, performance, and video. Projects evolve through stages of conceptual and material development to final presentation. Lectures, screenings, visiting artist presentations, field trips, and readings supplement studio practice and provide insight into the historical, cultural, and environmental forces that affect both development of artistic vision and reception of works of art. |

I finished uni last year but I have to do a Medicines Australia course which consists of 5 modules over 3-4 semesters. Basically another 1.5-2 years of uni by correspondence. Has to be done for work.
I'm actually thinking of applying for a part time course at NIDA, the performing arts school. If I can get in, then I can do 1 or 2 days a week on mon/tue nights. Pick from anything, screen acting, presenting, tv etc. I've always wanted to try my hand at acting and I've been told I'm a natural at it but never had the balls (or the idiocy depending on which way you look at it) to drop everything else in life and give it a proper go.
This would be a perfect stepping stone if I got in and it costs barely over a grand.
Now to just drum up the confidence to go audition on Jan 30th :nervous: |

| I dropped my Latin America: Conquests and the Empire class because I found out there is a girl I absolutely loathe and have the desire to throat-punch every time I see her will be in said class. I picked a cooler 'Religions of the East' class instead. |

| im aiming to do some foundation courses just to prove I'm ok for going to uni full time when im 30-31ish :nervous: I'm still torn to which course to apply to from 2 though. I'm 90% sure I want to do one but the other just shouts out to me at times. Will be weird though going to uni at the same time as my cousin who is 16 now :\ |
