I prefer his productions over most of the stuff in his set I saw, wish he would spend more time producing... I remember the first time I heard Metropolis, song really touched me in a way most things I was listening to at the time failed to do. |

| ya i remember my first time too....trance around the world 266 song 3...i had never heard anything like it...the way he brings in the sharp lead synths than that ridiculously catchy melody...and the breakdown in that song is perfection...damn its good...exposure was nice but didnt have the replay value of metropolis...i will lose my when he drops it |

| i liked the myon and shane mashup too at first but then i realized how much justines voice takes the focus off the incredible instumentals |

I am not a big fan of mashups honestly and tbh Oceanlab has not made a good proper trance song since Beautiful Together... Pretty sad, that was in 2003 :(
Not sure why everyone thinks new Oceanlab stuff is listenable :| above & beyond really have fallen off. |

| idk i thought the sirens of the sea remix album was excellent...and ive always looked forward to the anjunabeats comps more than any others so i have a hard time ripping a&b...the two times ive seen them live they tore it up...as far as production goes they don't do a lot but anjunabeach was great |

Their cd should not have to be remixed to be good. Anjunabeach I thought was a bit on the generic boring side of uplifting trance, much like that super 8 and tab song, irufushi.
I do like them both, but just look at the song structure where - is a generic kick drum pattern and bass
----------------------builllllduuuuppppp-breakdoooowwnnnn-----------------
just boring plain and simple :(, while uplifting they could have done so much more with the song... transitions, breakbeats, layering stuff that was not so generic, etc. |

| i cant say i didnt get into it but compared to metropolis...its not even close...then again 99% of songs fall into the same category...its not that exposure was weak but thats like putting a B Side to "faces" it just isn't fair |

Man the energy Irufushi brings to the dancefloor though is pretty crazy. During Megabuzz that was my favorite track played because of the build and the response it got.
I got to see Sander at Rich's this past October and I left the place still feeling like that is the best sound I have heard in a club in texas. Everything was so crisp and clean. I didn't leave with a ringing in my ears either. (So maybe you were playing with grenades?!) |

Ya your right about the structure...and a&b always has been categorized as generic uplifting but in the case of anjunabeach i thought that plucky bass lead was something new...structure same ol' same ol' but that sound is innovative...for uplifiting at least
Super8 & Tab are in the exact same category they come up with innovative sounds..."nothing but you" (super8 & tab) remix has some crazy sounds and their breakdown lead that they use in their "made of love" remix and irifushi is one of the coolest sounds ive ever heard...but once again structure is same ol same ol...although i remember their remix of "new york city" really surprises you at some parts
As far as oceanlab goes...it was something experimental and it kinda worked on some songs but it was so different i hesitate to call it trance...its just chill music...and ur right a great album shouldnt have to be remixed but im glad it was...because justines voice is something special |

Yea irifushi destroyed the place at megabuzz so did their remix of "nothing but you"...but i thought mat zo's remix of eclipse was the best track just because what he does during the breakdown shocked everyone
As for Rich's your so right...its soooo clean as far as the grenades go hahaha i think it was just andy moor and his classic loudass bass sound |
