Tech-house is becoming the new electro-house for me personally; Loved it at the beginning but now getting quite sick of it. I find all the songs sound the same, its basically just like 'boom boom boom boom boom boom boom'... they barely have any "flavor" if you know what I mean; its more or less just a monotonous bass beat with little other noises here and there, and the odd breakdown once in a while. The crappy part is that you can't really go anywhere in Toronto without being bombarded by tech-house.

I don't necessarily dislike tech-house, I just wish people would play/produce tracks that have a little more to them than just 'boom boom boom boom'. I know I am not using the proper technical terminology here (I know nothign about music production), but I think you guys know what I am trying to get at.

Like I feel if I brought someone who knew nothing about EDM to a tech-house event they would think the same song was playign the entire time we were there. As opposed to something like progressive house, which, IMO, I am starting to appreciate a lot more after this big tech wave that seems to have overtaken the EDM industry.

Anyone else feel this way? or totally disagree with me? or somewhere in between?

FINALLY!!!! Tech-house Blows. I tried to give it a chance, went to a couple events thinking maybe I was missing something. But no every time I left thinking how the F*ck do people listen to this crap. Are tech-house and minimal the same thing? either way they suck. I've maybe heard like 1 or 2 songs I didn't mind, la mescal or whatever.
We need more choice in music for after hours.

tech house is a very broad genre... I you dont like one particular sound i wouldnt label or dismiss the whole genre. In general i think it was pretty good in 2009 for tech house. There were new sounds, subgenres, new currents etc. Even though there was lots of garbage objectively tech house as a genre had a good year in 2009 and i can see it doing good this year too.

couple of my favs from 2009

Ron Costa - Al Amanecer

Fabian Argomedo - Due

Prompt - Evolve (Slam Paragraph Remix)

some would say the same about electro, or trance, or any other genre. a lot of music these days is hard to categorize or put in a genre anyway...

i personally love tech house :)
