Sluttybutter is my bedroom name, oddly enough. Have you been setting up cameras in my house again?

Shortening multi-syllable names is the Australian way.

Sadly, lengthening single-syllable names is also the Australian way.

In many cases, a multi-syllable name will be shortened, and then re-lengthened to something else.

Go figure :conf:

Don't worry, Stuartiroo, that's universal.

My bro's name is Fernando, and we usually call him Fê (sounds like Faye). Because his short name is too short, some of the girls in my family call him Fezinho... which is just as long as his original name, and 254% gayer :p

Never read it. Any good?

Say these exact words to your girlfriend right now: "Hey, have you ever read the book called Belinda the Cow, by Pamela Allen?"

Then come back here and post her reaction.

My calculations actually suggest it's 251% gayer, but close enough!

Nah, the most common one here is adding the 'o' syllable to single syllable names.

Thomas -> Tom -> Tommo

David -> Dave -> Davo

Only happens to some names though. Never Pete. Though, I have a friend called Brendan, and everyone calls him Pete. No one has any idea how that started, either.

Smith > Smithy > Smitty > Smitta > Smitto

There are hundreds like that.
