| Oh, I agree Green Shell Suit is excellent. Overall, I think there is less over-reliance on orchestral sessions, which is the key ingredient making this album better, to me. :) |

I really do like snippets of every track, but overall, I don't dig any one's entirety save for Empire and City Siren.
I hated all the vocals. |

Skimmed through it and it sounded crammed full with terrible, terrrrible vocals.
Sounds like a major disappointment overall. |

What? I have their album and I've seen them live, and they are not "euphoric breaks" or really comparable to Hybrid.
I've probably got a review forthcoming on this album. Need a bit more time on it though. |

| Well, Symphony was quite euphoric, but really they aren't even making breaks anymore, unless you count anything that isn't 4/4 thump as "breakbeat". With that said, I'm really not enjoying the ty rock drumming on this album in the slightest. |

Fan of Hybrid, mainly because of their production values. Actually, i'm fan of many artists mainly for their production values, not exactly the content of their musical ideas. Because good sound engineering and mixing is difficult and respectable. I liked 'Green Shell Suit' sample I heard on Beatport. Was enjoyable in that sample, and I think that might get some decent licensing.
About the vocals...far more people like Vocals than not. It also can make the music more unique if the vocals are saying something interesting that the music cannot, or saying it an interesting way. The problem I have with vocals in this type of music is that they use the most generic voices to do the vocals. Its abusively pop and it does'nt have to be. I rather get types of voices that are used less over this type of music than hearing a generic female EDM vocalist. Try to find new voices when recording this particular type of soundscape. |

I'm still not fully decided on this album, I definitely really enjoy it, I'm just not sure it's on the same level as 'I Choose Noise'. But to be honest, they did set the goalposts quite high after that album and after all, they were trying to achieve something different. In that respect, they did succeed whilst still maintaining that obvious Hybrid sound.
In my opinion it's still a good album. I don't mind the vocals, I actually prefer Charlotte's voice to the male vocalist they used a couple of years back.
With every listen I appreciate it a bit more, on this basis of that I'm sure I'll be loving it after a few more listens. |
