but in reality the end of the world happened a long time ago . it's not so much on a physical level but more on a supra-conscious one . |

I think people like apocaylpse theories for the same reasons they like movies - they both present us with a beginning, a middle, and an end which makes sense and have internal justification.. while our daily lives are full of plotlines that don't conclude well or fairly most of the time... The world was made, the world became wicked, the wicked must be punished.. savior of your choice will come to send everyone off to their just desserts for all eternity.
And considering the trouble people tend to have thinking past tomorrow, I don't think it's surprising that people want to believe that the world will end in their lifetimes.. Personally, I think estimating the end date of the world by anything as arbitrary as the calendar is guaranteed to fail. |
