I think you've been oblivious to the not-so-subtle hidden message in this thread which is that not everybody who goes out to clubs does so solely for the purpose of getting ed off their face, and many clubs would do well to realize this and try to offer a little more value to the non-sketchbags.

I've never heard of that concept, unless we're talking about lounges, or once again "supper clubs" - which they serve dinner till about 10 or so, and then it just becomes bar/club

where is this weirdness occurring?

You should visit Ukraine more often, among other countries ;). Yes, that means I've been in a Ukrainian nightclub where they served dinner after 10pm.

snacks = yes but not full proper meals :)

You'd be surprised at all the possibilities of fun and enjoyment having both occuring at the same time ;).

"in" but not necessarily "sold" correct? Some places I assume would only have it for emergency purposes perhaps? Otherwise what would be the purpose of having it and not selling it?

Legal obligation, nothing more.

Fact is many Toronto clubs don't want to serve food, and they are simply stretching the wording of the law by having it "on" or "in" the premises.

Food would be very welcome at a venue, something to keep us going for longer. I know after 5 hours of dancing and chatting, I've had to leave because my stomach was ready to eat itself, even after a massive carb loaded dinner to prepare.

Dear Mr. Promoter,

How useful are those flyers you hand out at the end of the night? From what I can see, most of them just end up on the ground 15 feet from the exit of the club.

I think most people now find out about parties from the Internet, which should save you time and money flyering. They are always on thick paper, with a high gloss, it must be expensive.

Try limiting your flyering, and see how it works out. If you can save money and bring down prices, while still getting the word out through digital means, then great!

flyers do work especially if they can also be used as a discount coupon. Electronic means is good too but more people use the delete button and complain about spam than they do about a flyer in person. And you always have to option to say no if u dont want that flyer. When i used to hand them out i couldnt understand why some people would take them then chuck them. Id usually pick them up and reuse them.

How often are flyers coupons now? Not very from what I can see. The coupon idea has moved on to guest list, which is all done electronically or through phoning the promoter.

In my experience the majority of those flyers themselves do not carry any exclusive deal that cannot be obtained without them... it will be something like "$3.50 FUELS ALL NIGHT!!!!" which is what the club is offering anyways; very very rarely a "$5.00 off cover with this coupon".

not oblivious, im just being real about it. me and my fellow "sketchbags" are their bread and butter. you wanna get a dinner or a night of refined tastes and a nice conversation you go to a 4 to 5 stars restaurant or a lounge.

if you wanna unwind after a hard week of work and bullcrap, and/or wanna rock your off you go a nightclub.

thats how i see it.

Ortemy and his crew are frequently throwing parties where you get in for free with a flyer :)
