About Markus Schulz
Over the last 10 years Markus Schulz has fused the individual musical identities of progressive house & trance into his own creative, inimitable hybrid sound. Through the unique alignment of his headline DJ sets, Coldharbour label output and highly prominent Global DJ Broadcast show, he orchestrated a sea change revolution in the US trance scene - one that has gone on to have its sound influence sweep to the farthest reaches of the globe. This success has been singularly reflected in weekly headliner sets in front of many tens of thousands, a GDJB radio show listenership up in the tens of millions & one Beatport chart-topping release after another. Following several highly ranked positions in 2008 Shultz punched his way into the Top 10 of DJ Magazine’s Top 100 chart, landing at no.8. In repeating the exact same achievement in 2009, he now stands, quite unequivocally, as America’s no.1 club DJ.

Dude...no kidding! I just saw that right now. Why would they bring the open house/Praia Urbana crew to open for a trance/progressive dj?
They might as well put me on the next Praia line-up so I can play full blown trance. |

i felt markus schulz hayday was when he released 'first time'
got it on vinyl the day it was released. after that, the melodies used for his dj sets and stuff sound really... lame and during the electro craze he started doing more electroey basslines (his remix of yoshimoto's du what u du' is the best he ever did with that sound). got real sick of this dudes sound as fast as i fell in love with it. but ill admit when i listen to some of his sets ill either (A) only tolerate it for so long or (B) ill dig 1 song in his set. which is more i can say about most sets i listen to now a days. | AS much as I hate to say it, I agree. Both he an Armin started out with a big bang and it's gotten more generic as time has gone on. |

yea man and it breaks my damn heart. the scene hasnt given me the tingles it used to. honestly i still listen to TXTA mixes. i was in my mini the other day on the way to work, stuck in traffic when dj jonas's redeemer came on. lol. definately made the traffic more enjoyable.
i was armins biggest fan when he was this kid from the holland that had just released a song named ;blue fear; that appeared on paul oakenfolds tour to argentina buenos aires. up until 2004 it brought a rush of emotions. now ? there arent enough swear words in the english dictionary for me to explain how i feel.
btw, matty schwabs
when are you putting out a mix with your ableton toys !?!? |

Actually, I stayed in last night and played around with a bunch of new tracks. Saw a video about chopping tracks up into different segments & started playing around to see what came out of it. Planning on doing one soon. |

Saw schulz here back in Nov. 08 when it was Bar Rio. I had a great time! Huge dancefloor that all really got into it (Same for Ferry early the next year)
I still love some Schulz. Most of the coldharbor sound I really like. I agree he does have some generic tunes...I listen to his top 15 every month and its always about half and half. But its because of him that I've been exposed to some other really great DJs/Producers (Daniel Heatcliff, Arnej, Skytech, Element One, Rex Mundi, Sied van Riel, Mike Foyle, list could go on and on). I also really liked the Dakota stuff and loved how DJ friendly it is. Those tracks could all easily be dropped throughout many sets. Just my opinion...I just can't classify Schulz with Armin/Tiesto status yet. |
