I had a very long reply written, I listened to this and it told me its not worth it, neither is it worth it telling its not worth it, so again I see myself ashamed at what Im doing, but ok..

Other points you make are good, I just disagree that its simple art, because it all depends on what your reference tracks are within the genre :) Theres good and bad pieces of music within every genre. I know you know that aswell, but its a fact you have to keep in mind when generalizing a genre for being "easier to make," or what could be implied as being "lesser." Also theres lots more trash inside EDM because it's so easy to start playing around with. We all know that, and it facilitates the prejudice and generalization factor of the genre a whole lot.

I don't think it's all theory and simple art,
I think it is a bit of self-expression and a heart. :)

Listen man.. it's so much emotion I have trouble standing on my feet when I listen to this, as his emotions rushes from him, through the music into me! Thats what it's all about. It's so majestetic, just so majestetic and powerful it overflows, can't you hear it.. it is a godsend. One should live in awe of a man like Leon, not call his art simple. I cry so easily to this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vloSmBrOfys

Tears flowing down my chin.. This doesn't come from theory alone.

For the record, Im not trying to give you bad thoughts.. Cause I believe you create great music, but I don't believe its all theory. I believe you have some sort of talent for expressing yourself through music, whether you know it or not, else you wouldn't be here. Not everyone has that. People are tone-deaf man. People have no sense of rhythm at all.

Great tracks mate but how in the world can you forget Ocean Drive Boulevard??? Imo not only is it his best track he has ever made but one of the all time trance classics! One of the best breakdowns I've ever heard. Leon is so great because of one thing. He understands and has mastered tension. That is the key to this genre. There are other things that are extremely important but tension is what makes people see tracks as special.

Anyway folks, I find myself spending too much time on here so this will be the last time you see me for I don't know how long.. Much love and respect, and I wish you all good fortune and best of luck with music and life in general from now on forward!

Bye guys.. I have really loved the forum and it has helped me in so many ways, from the time I started browsing it some 5 years ago.. but it takes up too much of my time as it is now, so I'll have to say goodbye! :)

Leon IS ONE OF THE MODERN DAY TRANCE MASTERS; with that said though he is the master not because of his theory used in his tracks but because of his ability to create emotion by combining sounds and atmospheres to create an piece of art. That simply comes from having an extremely astute ear and being a student of your craft. He makes very emotive deep music while at the same time staying uplifting. However with that said his music is still very simple and his one knock imo is the way he arranges his tracks.

And as far as how many tracks he makes; he made 30+ last year I just went through and counted. That's his only knock I really wish he would release half that and make more inspiring arrangements. But I can't complain with how good of work he does.

My point exactly welcome to EDM. You can't make complex music very easily because it's extremely difficult for people to understand on the floor; which is what this music is intended for.

About those examples being that was made better ten years ago; get over yourself Richie that's ridiculously nonsensical.

There are tracks that have sounds in 8 bars I can't grasp. You still haven't told me how to do that synth sound that is apparently really easy because all EDM is. It isn't easy, the skill is just in different areas like sound design ....

Tell me one thing about those links that was not already in trance 5-10 years ago. The worst art is redundant art. There is nothing in those tracks that makes me go wow , how the was that done.

I never have contended that I am a sound design master. In fact I INTENTIONALLY stay away from spending too much time on sound design because it is the least important of areas to focus on and you can spend eons doing nothing productive for the track as a whole. All of my time gets spent on arrangement (Most important) and mixing (close 2nd). My music is based off grouping sounds. I definitely am not the person to ask about how to make a sound because everything I do is done through experimentation. What's the point of trying to figure out how someone else did something? Imo it only promotes people making similar music. I look at others music as whole entities so that I can enjoy it as a fan does. I learned the basics vicariously and now that I have those down the rest is done through time and trial. This insures everything I do is original.

Trance is still trance. There are elements that will always be in it; Leon just does them BETTER. You see redundant because you're looking at things solely for technical viewpoints and not appreciating them as they were designed to be appreciated. Go listen to Ocean Drive Boulevard. If you can't appreciate that then you need to quit music (or atleast find a classical production forum).

The tracks aren't made to shock people; they are made to make the dance floor go crazy. You have to realize us as producers as we gain more knowledge things over time will not give us those feelings that we once had before we had all of the technical savvy. If they shocked you then the clubbers sure as hell would be clueless as to what was happening. The music is made for them; not old men who sit and bitch about things being redundant and the same as the past/unoriginal.

I'll give you a chance to redeem yourself. If you even find ANY trance to be great; I'd love to hear some of your personal favorites because trashing Leon is just downright dumb and anyone who enjoys and knows trance will laugh at you to your face because he has been making great music for a long time consistently.

I'm quoting this in hopes that one day you can come back here, re-read your comments, slap yourself heartily on the forehead and say "wow, hard to imagine I had absolutely no taste in music and also wrote like a little fangirl"

Sorry man - the only emotion that Leon's tracks evoke in me is a desire to shut the source of the sound off IMMEDIATELY and inflict great bodily harm upon anyone who plays that . If you think he's got tallent, you haven't seen yet son. I'd understand if you tell me you're 8. Anything older than that and you got no excuse.

Tastes are subjective, distaste is obvious. Generic, un-inspiring garbage. Pardon my French.

the more you talk, the more I suspect you're just ing with people. From the way you express yourself, high and mighty, to the way you make an ass out of yourself, I just realized that every single thing you ever said makes me want the time I spent reading it back. badly. , I'd trade it in 2:1 and I'm a fast reader too! My teeth ache because your posts are so dull. Can't you find another hobby?

LOOOOOL! It's always hilarious watching the people who slam others for their tastes in music say that someone is untalented. You notice it never happens the other way around? While I don't share the extreme sentiment for Leon that Lenient does I would love to have you show me even ONE trance producer who has made as good of tracks as CONSISTENTLY as Leon has for the past 5 years or so. I'll be waiting...

Troll.

Go back to what you're good at; which is nothing. There are a lot of people that agree with a lot of what I say. I could care less if nobody did I just speak my mind.

Had a bad day at work? Caught your gf cheating on you? Life sucks better end it brah;)

don't even want to bother - the only thing he had consistntly done was churn out generic, uninspiring garbage at fast rate. I can't think of a single thing that he made that would stand out from 1000 just like it. Not one. That's consistency.
