I definetely felt old and over dressed. I felt bad for my GF cuz she was wearing heels, she was in pain!!! lol Even she said that it felt like she was at a rave, which she was!!!
BTW, I love how they said no light, yet everyone had lights & glowsticks.

The event did have some bad things I didn't like.
What was up with all the fights & people getting taken to the ambulances outside? We saw 3 fights and security was nowhere to be found. People in the crowd ended up breaking them up and kicking people out themselves. That was not cool.
The event was promoted as 18+ but it was actually ALL AGES. There were little kids all over the place. We were at the front with Michelle & gang, but the crowd got so rude & pushy we left upstairs and finally we moved back downstairs by the guys doing visuals. It seemed like that was the only decent place to be at.
.....
    |
I was totally surprised by all the fights in the front. The kids have to seriously chill out. It's like they never get to go out and over do the drugs and can't handle it. Out of control . . . It was weird how security didn't jump in for those fights but they did tell people to stop smoking and sitting on the dance floor which was kind of cool. Hopefully, when Ferry comes back it's at a 21+ event.
I haven't seen Ferry for a while so I liked his set. It was my first time at an event at the Palladium. I was surprised by the size of the dancefloor. The one thing I think it's lacking is sound in the back? I don't think there were any speakers in the back providing sound so it kind of tapered off a lot when you moved back from the front. |

My thoughts exactly. Security wouldn't let people sit on some pedastals that were on the back, but they wouldn't break up the fights.
I saw people getting taken out to the ambulances outside. I wonder why? I wonder if they OD'd.
Next time, unless it's somebody my girl or I really really wanna see, I'll be avoiding Insomniac's 18+ events. 21+ I'll be there, but 18+, I'll pass. |

@Woody - Welcome to raves post 2007. Upstairs and against the walls are always the crakhouses where kids sit down for lightshows.
It's absolutely ing disgustingly what people do, I've even seen a young girl take an old man into a port o potty for a disgustingly long amount of time to the point where crackheads who didn't notice them going in are banging on the door.
And yes, he did play Made of Love around the middle of his set :X The other tracks like Fire and what not were too soft for the majority if his set, he played hard tonight :[
In terms of lights, I had my gloves stuffed down my pants, right before the security checkpoint I pulled them out. They did let in lights, but said no glowsticks (cuz they could be thrown as projectiles/weapons)
Security pat me down for weapons and didn't even look at what I was holding in my hands or had on the table.
Only thing security actively did (at least until 11:00 PM that I could tell) was keeping the handicapped rails and stairs clear between the lights guy and the main floor. (and no sitting on the dance floor)
System F - Out of the Blue (Giuseppi Ottoviani Remix) and LEF were my favorite songs he played. I actually did not care for the first half of his set at all. They were newer tracks and also harder, rave trance. He didn't play any fluff at all until the latter half, and he even skipped out on playing Galaxia, where as the last 3 times I've seen him, he's played it.
He did play LEF, which I've never heard him play live before. I almost regret staying sober.
I myself grabbed a chair and was on the upper level right next to the side of the stage, in back of the speakers. Had a great view and the sound was tolerable for someone without earplugs.
Finally, when Fila came on, lot's and lots of people started leaving. I absolutely loved his set and was the only time I was actually on the dance floor dancing :[ I did leave early at like 3:40 cuz I was tired and not cracked out.
They should have had Fila after Lange, Ferry's set was too hard compared to Lange and Aly & Fila. If it were a rave rave like Nocturnal or something, I would have loved it more :[

Upstairs was a whole different issue. That was a en crackhouse. That's where most e-tards were. They were all over the floor that I had to be careful where I was walking so I wouldn't step on top of them. Upstairs was really bad, specially the right side of the stage where the big patio is. Same goes for the little lounge upstairs, that was bad.

One note also.
I thought the guy doing lights used the white strobes WAY TOO !@$#ING MUCH.
Ravers and do NOT want to have bright white lights flashed in their eyes. The strobes were blinding to those sitting upstairs and in the very front x_x |

This is the appropriate place for light shows and e-puddles. Better there than the dance floor. |

Promtoers & Venues are getting away with allowing the e-puddles.
At any time someone can come in and could cause major issues using the RAVE Act with all that crap going on. Just takes one butthole official to want to crack down.
I know it's all easier said than done, but if the rave scene (which, again, is killing the 21+ trance scene in LA, IMO) continues to grow it's only a matter of time before enough parents complain or an official catches wind or something and looks into it more.
It would be bad news for all of us, but at some point there is going to be a line drawn. (And this goes for ALL organizers...obviously can't single out last night or anyone one promoter or venue. just a time to bring the topic up) |

I had a lot of fun last night. Lots of kids way to funned up but whatevers. They can't drink so...total rave vibe.
LOVED LOVED LOVED Lange's set. Was afraid I was going to be disapointed by Ferry from recent reviews but that wasn't the case. And Fila banged it out harder than I have ever heard him play.
Sound was good for Lange and Fila but there was too much bass during Ferry's set. The bass drowned out everything else. Ended up dancing in the back where the sound was better balanced. I have come to realize this happens a lot when Ferry plays. Wonder if its the way he eq's or something.
Bartender rocked our world with stiff drinks. The strobes were WAY too much. Even facing the back of the club they were overwhelming. Was great to be back at The Palladium. Would go back in a second. 21+ would rock though.
Oh, and I did see security seriously cracking down on people to CTFO'd and e-puddles. |
