Wow, some pretty hardcore stuff on here. I used to be super conscious about stuff like this (like back in 2005) and I tend to do the worst thing possible - yo-yo dieting. Now it's so much harder to lose the extra flab even though nobody notices when I lose or gain it. It's more of a personal thing - you wanna "feel" good, no squishy spots when you're in a hot place like Miami. It's also great motivation for getting back in shape. About 3 weeks left, not sure how much I can possibly lose (fat, not weight), but I'm going all out. I hate non-sports Cardio (and I didn't sign up for any leagues this semester), but I guess I might as well incorporate it on off days. Eating right is obviously key, but the one thing that always screws me over...
booze
I'm so excited about WMC that I want to go out more and attend local events, but realistically I can't go and not drink, so I guess I'll have to lay low until I lose the fat. How do you guys stop yourselves on weekends (or maybe even the odd pint or six on a weekday)? Will power?

I hear ya!! Im a beer drinker, and i hate liquor... but lately ive been trying to limit my partying to about 2 nights per week. Trying to switch to gin & tonics and such..... but just doesnt compare to a nice beer :tongue2

liquor all the way, I hate how full and tired I feel with beer.
And... it's nice to be in shape, especially just for feeling better, but I think the "self conscious" angle diminishes as you get older.

no, you're right, but I can't do em anymore. seriously, not like I shouldn't...I actually can't. HPPD, google it. Also if I was going to, would nowhere attempt the sort of frequency that people including myself drink with (even 2 nights a week holy !, although I know people who can get away with it). Weed, well that would be a pizza fest for me so even if I could, not a weight loss solution. I've just gotten back to the gym and diet, but you know, when the clock is ticking, there's only so much you can do.
Also...yes, beeeer. Liquor is good for a club (rum diet even, scotch if you're into it), but beer definitely the king of alcohols if I had to chose just one forever. Unfortunately all liquor cuts down on your fat metabolism and for me usually results in eating like crap right after...oh and then the next day, and then not going to the gym...and then the cycle repeats. I just have to hold off clubbing until WMC. I think I can pull if off.

I haven't been kind to my body since WMC'08...I'm really out of shape. Incoming heart attack on March 27th.

Honestly the trick is to work out and eat right. Before I had my baby I was the heaviest I've ever been because I used to drink massive amounts of beer, not work out & eat crap. I got pregnant which meant more weight gain. Since I had her 7 months ago I've lost a looot of weight because I've been very strict with how I eat BUT I still drink a lot of beer lol. I love beer, I can't give it up and obviously while pregnant I didn't touch 1 so I kinda went crazy after I had her lol. But yeah now I am down to 112 and I still drink beer. It's all about what you eat/how late you eat that plays a role and working out.

That's pretty impressive. I don't know anyone who regularly drinks beer, has a flat stomach and isn't super skinny naturally. You must have a great metabolism. I can't do the moderation thing. If I drink beer, I'm not going to have it with a salad. I do know a couple of people who stay insanely ripped and who drink a decent amount. I'm just an average person. 2000-2500 calories a day would keep me perfectly lean. That only occurs during periods like now, when I'm working out and eating right (6 small meals, etc.). One of my friends, a girl can't put on fat if she tried. She also happens to love beer. I hate her.
