Was hoping somebody could point me in the direction of some quality French House producers and if anybody here could give some tips on how to best create it. Obviously the bass and kick vibe would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Very interested in starting up an alias and doing French House since it seems to be so dead yet I remember LOVING it.

Thanks in advance.

First of all get the terminology right.

It's called Maison.

Then buy an Alesis 3630.

I like the stuff from Anoraak, Fear of Tigers, Grum, Lifelike.
Some call it NuDisco not sure if its the same like French House.

probably my favorite style of production at the moment.

I would just check out the Ed banger stuff to start out with. Here is some tracks I really dig.

not to be a dick but the things you posted are more along italian disco than french house. I am pretty sure he is looking for the post Daft Punk sound "ala justice" vein.

Think we're on different wave lengths here. I'm not talking about Nu-Disco or synth pop. I'm talking about french house. Maybe I should be more clear and call it French House from 5 years ago because I didn't know the above listed were thought of as French House. Kinda surprises me really....french house had a very distinct sound to it when it was alive....can't seem to find a single youtube that has the kick and bass combo that made it "french" house way back when. Here is the best example I find, but there's no humping bass in it.

Somebody here HAS to know where I'm talking about. I hope I don't have to go dig through all my vinyls to get an example

probably looking for filtered french house or disco house . lol I know it is complicated huh. I had to rack my brain for the names! I'm getting old. I used have about 5000 records of which a large part was french house. Most where white labels so i'm having a hard time coming up with names.

Some of these are pitched real high but it is all I could find.

If you are talking about 90's French House, like that snappy, loopy, jazzy Deep House sound from France, (which evolved from early 90's Chicago house a la DJ Sneak with Italia-Nu Disco) then look for these artists:

Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk)
DJ Gregory
Cassius
Demon
Wuz
Alex Gopher

And these labels..

Basic Recordings
Poumpchuk
Roul
Crydamoure
Vertigo

The French house style has evolved since the 90s and morphed with Electro in the 00s to produce artists like..

Easy P
Justice
Kitsune
Ed Banger records
etc..

which is more Indie Dance/New Rave but it's also in the same family and a derivative of French House.

DJHali has it exactly right. Just like other genres, that "French House" sound has evolved over time. While the 90's stuff on labels like Roule was really a lot of sampled disco loops run through a Sherman Filterbank, the new sound more complex and is being pioneered by some of the artists mentioned above. The call a lot of it Indie Dance/Nu Disco on Beatport, even though I question that classification in many cases.

You might also want to look into artists like Francois DuBois, Trentemoller, and The Diogenes Club. Royksopp also has a lot of that influence, especially in their earlier stuff.

Man, I'd love to see how a track in that style is produced. I wonder how sample heavy it is and what they synthesize themselves and what sources they use etc.
Has anybody any helpful tutorials or tips for this kind of music as it's not something that I fully understand.
