Basically a friend is looking for a headphone , and since none of us know anything about headphones , I thought I might ask the TAs for advices.

So hes looking for a headphone (Preferably Sennheiser , though other brands are welcomed) , that has the following strenghts.
1)Strong bass (Most important point)
2)Good mid
3)Decent High
and not to forget ,
4)Noise Isolation
5)Mainly for listening , especially heavy metal , rock.

Price range would be 70~140 USD.

Anyone has any suggestions?

I paid 50 for a set of Audio Technica ATH-M40s and they are excellent all round for the money.

The ATH-M50s should be within your budget and are supposedly better still.

sony mdr v6 (also known as 7506) is pretty good for listening imo (ipod listening that is, not active listener). and djeing too if u ever start with something like that. but they suck if ur using them for monitoring/producing cause they make everything sound sweeter than they actually are. but their nice on the head, pretty neat, closed so u doesn't annoy everyone around you. and their pretty solid. i must admit though that i havent listened to alot of heavy metal on them so its not sure their suited for that (Tool band works fine on them though, and it doesn't get more complicated than that i think).

+1, but don't buy the V6s. They are supposedly the same thing but the 7506s have a much more "iconic" look.

Also, if you're friend is listening to anything lower than about 192kbps mp3, they will sound like . If he's the type of person with a bunch of ty limewire tracks, he's better off geting a $30 pair of in-ear buds.

I have also had a good experience with my Sennheiser PX 200s. They are very lightweight and are also foldable. They aren't the type of headphones that make bad music sound horrible so depending on what your friend has, they may or may not be better than the 7506s.

TBH, it's cool to know what he wants but it would alse be nice to know exactly what he'll be listening to (not style but format/quality/etc). I mean if he's listening to limewire rips on an old iPod or even a cell phone, that changes what people will recommend.

I use tehlord advice and purchased ATH-M50s (~ $60.00) and couldn't be more happy.

Thanks G. for good one buddy.

Cheers
