that is all you need. get off your ass and go exercise. it's hard to be depressed when you're exerting yourself physically. you also have a better chance of improving your situation by not sitting around in your room all day. you've probably associated your current environment with your depression as well, so changing that environment allows you to change your mood. and if you eat a bunch of sugary, salty, fatty, processed foods, your mood will be no matter who you are. |

A diagnosis is what's needed, several and take the majority opinion and the internet isn't the place for that. Misdiagnosis of depression over the years for people just being 'Genuinely Unhappy' and then sending them on their way with a script ended up causing a lot of people, myself included a lot of grief in the long term.
If people give you a script be very wary, the medical solution for depression is usually to fill a chemical imbalance in the brain, some people get unlucky and just get it. Others with long term drug use find a big vacant hole up there which just doesn't get filled with the bodies natural chemistry and long since stopped manufacturing it due to introducing it artificially. Filling it back up with more prescription chemicals doesn't inspire the body to manufacture its own and as a result your brain will have a chemical dependency up there, the lack of up there will result in depression.
That's your classic chemical imbalance depression, your local heavy pot head and e-tard can tell you all about it... maybe :p
There is also psychological depression caused by extended emotional trauma which is a much more involved treatment to actually fix over time to get over it and move on with life, sadly, that too often just gets filled with a script, slap on the ass and out the door.
Not a shrink, wouldn't even give advice there.
Then there are people who are just plain 'Genuinely Unhappy', for whatever reason, that also gets misdiagnosed as being a clinical brain imbalance and treated with drugs.
Been there, done that and to some extent still quite upset about it because it doesn't really fix anything at a personal growth level, though I have to admit the drugs did wire up my brain in some really odd ways in terms of long term memory retention. But, back to the subject of personality development, its something people have to come to terms with on their own- specifically Loss and Failure, which in their own way are just as important to learn about in the life experience as are successes and measurements of gain over time.
There is a lot of hype about success and gain as a measure of net worth, very little time is given to consider the value of loss and failure, what was learned from it and how not to repeat it.
As a result, the world is often full of people that have no foundation in managing that area of their life, instead it builds up over time and eventually manifests as a psychological problem due to repeating the same mistakes over and over, without and management of the situation. Turning 'Unhappy' into severe depression.
Not addressing it to anyone in particular, just my 2cents of experience on the matter. |
