Supermarkets have heaps of meat, but it's never as good as the quality that you get from a butcher ;) |

Yeah, butchers are becoming less common here too. I guess everyone just grabs their meat from the supermarket because it's convenient.

Supermarkets have really sunk the boot into the bottle shop industry as well, but like the butchers there is a difference in that if you want something specific and don't want to have to spend half an hour explaining it to some pimple faced dud.. who will inevitably just think you're being irritating and reciprocate by being useless.
You go to someone that knows what they're doing.
If you want a speciality cut of meat, cut how you want it and how much of it you want, see a butcher. If you want wines, liqueurs or something unusual to suit a dinner (that supermarkets wont touch) then you go to a bottle shop, because they know what you want and are happy to help.
Supermarkets are great for poultry and lots of cheap beer though :D |

I actually find meat to be cheaper at our butcher, and the quality is way better than the supermarket.
And, QLD being what it is, we can't buy beer/liquor in a supermarket here, lol. Only in bottle shops :p |

| my dad drives 30 minutes each way multiple times a week to hit up the swiss pork store ! has been doing so for the past 15 years probably. meat from butchers is just so much better, in my experience. |
