moldy cheese (serious inquiry)

| It's unopened and claims freshness for several months. Paradoxically, there's a corner with a small bit of blue moldpwn. Should I just cut the refuse off and go to town on the rest of that goodness? |

Yes, you should. It's cheese. It'll be fine. |

Spreading into your stomach, hopefully.
Just cut off the mouldy part, giving yourself a bit of lee-way. The rest will be fine. I did it heaps of times when I was a student :p |

amputate the infected section and use the rest, it wont last very long once the air gets to it, but should prolong the life of the rest slightly when you choose to axe the growing moulds :)
STOP MULTIPLYING!!! |

You could contact the company - and explain their cheese has gone moldy before the expiry date - and request a lifetime supply of cheese!!!!!
It may be a product issue. Either packaging or forumaltion error.
It could be mycotoxin - and it may not only effect the area with the mold. Chances are you won't die. But mycotoxin isn't to be taken lightly if you have a stable life you are happy with.
Contact the company and report the faulty product - it may be a large batch of product could be faulty and a serious health risk to individuals without them even knowing. |

i remember in my biology class in high school, my teacher told us that if you see mold on cheese, the mold's umm.. . rhizopus? or something? whatever the root-like nerve-like system they have to root themselves to a piece of material- actually roots itself throughout the cheese before you see it grow on top. therefore if you cut out a cross-section of moldy cheese and looked at it under a microscope, you would see little mold filaments growing throughout the cheese.
so, i say don't eat it. it's my own personal policy to chuck that homie. |
