Yep.

Also, what's WRONG with having both private and public? Who says you have to have only one?

I for one would love to have both...have NO qualms about going to public only now, but if I get annoyed then I'd lovet to have a private option.

Almost half of my paycheck goes to taxes.

If I lived in the US, a quarter of my paycheck would go to taxes. It may have gone to close to half with mandatory healthcare. So same result.

But for my type of work, my employers would have a health plan anyways, so no biggie.

right but in Canada, you won't get turned down because of pre-existing conditions and all this b.s. that goes on here. I lived in Canada and it was such a great experience in regards to health care. You don't have to worry that if you go to the doctor, your insurance company can potentially turn down your treatment.

part of the new health care bill stems to tackle this issue in regulations that are going to have to be followed by private insurers, no?

you guys need to look to denmark as there are definitely some parallels between their system and some of the stuff that was included in this piece of legislature.

well... with a deficit at 1,5 trillion dollars its definitely not helping matters!

Im not against this per se. (except forcing people to get coverage or else they get fined... wtf is that?)

but this is just the wrong timing for all of this.

That's an excuse IMO, the "wrong time". Sure they're in debt but if medical costs are rising I'd rather have it done sooner rather than later...then they'll reign in the war costs (hopefully).

how is it no excuse?

Think about it on a personal level. You have a household budget that is out of control. So what do you do? Either bring in more income or cut expenses. You dont ADD expenses because sooner or later the bank is going to say "no more" and thats when you lose everything.

I cant wait to see Obama's scores of new taxes that will surely follow sooner or later.

A typical tax and spender

yes but they are all small baby steps being taken to get to where we ultimately want to get- universal coverage. I guess I'm just super pissed because, as one of the richest nations, why the can I not get treated like citizens of Germany, Italy, England, Japan etc. where heath care is a right not a privilege.
