I've never actually had that problem in Australia
There was something of a public vilification a long time ago which embarrassed the retailers via the media into giving their minions some token training about how to pack a bag without destroying the groceries. |

The kids working the checkouts at our local place are pretty good. One guy in particular, lol. We call him the 'flair' checkout guy, like flair-bartending. He's super fast, super organised, and seems to be super coordinated. Everything he does is done with ninja speed, and finished off with a 'flourish' or a bit of flair. It's entertaining as to watch :haha: He also has a voice deeper than Barry White :wtf: |

| I'm surprised someone is getting paid $25 an hour though in that industry... for $25 here you could probably buy a team of 6 and hook them up to your trolley like a dog sled :p |

Nah, I think most of the 16 year-olds are on $13/hr or something? I actually have no idea what min wage is :conf: |

For a 16 year old casual it should be around $10 and hour or so and caps out at around 20 years at $17, slightly higher on weekends with the loading.

I used to be incredibly fast as a check out chick. When you do something often enough, you get really good at it. Made me understand how factory workers can work so bloody fast.
Sure the job was boring and menial, but it beat retail any day. Retail is the worst profession ever. |

another woolworths/kmart employee here. did my share of checkout, but mostly i stacked shelves. i enjoy shopping at night time now seeing all the miserable people filling stock. yeah, job sucks don't it guys! |
