Another peeve I have is the moron baggers at grocery stores. What idiot thinks it's a good idea to put 12 cans into one bag, or a loaf of bread under something heavy!? I realize you're a snotty high school kid getting paid minimum wage and probably couldn't give two s, but seriously... why the would you put fresh chicken in the same bag as vegetables!? Morons. I often end up having to re-bag everything myself... which I would rather just do from the start. Either train your staff to learn how to bag properly, or let me do it. |
When I was in England (albeit 10-ish years ago) you had to bag your own groceries. I remember being really caught off guard when I did my first food shop, when the cashier scanned everything, I paid for it... and was just standing there waiting for her to pack them. Then she just started with the next customer, and I was suddenly in the way :haha: Dunno if it's still the same over there now. |

I'm not certain, but I believe it is. There are some places here where you have to bag your own groceries and they're actually cheaper than the regular markets with baggers. They actually have a ing grocers union and can make upwards of $25+/hr...it's absurd :stongue: |

I think at Trader Joes you bag your own stuff sometimes.
Well.. I know I have =/ |

I honestly would prefer to bag my own stuff. I have to carry my out to the car, and then about a block worth of walking from the car to my actual apartment. It isn't a lot of walking, but it's long enough that if they bagged stuff poorly, it has enough time for it to break or ruin .
I had one idiot put cans on top of a carton of eggs and actually broke the 3 eggs on the corner. Luckily I caught it before we walked out and I got another carton. But seriously, who does stupid things like that? It seems like they just put in as it comes with no thought as to what's being put in.
Even though my BF thinks it's kinda rude of me, I will often re-bag it right there in front of them, as they hand me the bags. I will just grab another bag and sort it out in a logical manner.
I've had leaky chicken packages in the same bag as fresh greens, dish soap in a bag with muffins, cans on top of eggs, bread under other heavy things, 30 things in one bag. Seriously, save yourself the money and stop hiring baggers and let me just do it! |

I've never had to bag my stuff at Trader Joe's :wtf:
They must think you're an even dirtier more malnourished hippie than they're used to! |

| Never had to bag my own groceries at Trader Joe's but I did bag most of them at a local co-op while the cashier made casual conversation with me. I was like :wtf: help me out meng |

| It's not all the time. Just I've gone there a few times right before closing when they have a really small staff and I've had to do it myself. |

poor you :(
Here in Norway it's like this in every grocery store and supermarket. Other stores (clothes, electronics, etc) bag your items for you though. |

No no no. The coins are small and slip all over on the bills when I'm trying to put them in my wallet. If they were handed to me first I could cup them in my hand while I put the bills back. I'm able to easily hold onto the bill with my fingers so there is never a problem of losing them. |
Clearly you are clumsy. I have never once dropped a coin after it has been placed on top of a pound note, and I've used US dollar bills so I know there's no great difference.
The very simple solution is not to try and put the money straight back in your wallet. I just shove the whole handful of cash straight in my back pocket. My wallet is long gone. Back pockets house money perfectly, and you can retrieve that money more rapidly from a back pocket than from your wallet. The change only goes back in my wallet when the shopping is done or when I've sat down somewhere and have my hands free. |

I'm pretty sure I said this in the other thread anyway, but what kind of a man uses a wallet anymore? A money clip or a card file is more than enough.
I used to use this beautiful piece of magnetic simplicity until I lost it.
