Hello fellow addicts,
Do you believe this is true? I recently read the book "Free" by Chris Anderson (WIRED editor) where he makes a lot of good points on the subject.
On a side note, I am doing my thesis about the same topic and I would like to prove the hypothesis. Would you guys like to contribute to my research via a small 3 minute survey?
Here is the link if interested: http://esurveyspro.com/Survey.aspx?...9b-cd573432e3dd
Cheers

| Well I pirated some music software and then when I got some money I bought an updated version. The company would never have had the sale if I didnt first get a cracked version because I wouldn't have risked the money until the software became so important to me and what I wanted to do. |

Hey thanks for ur interest. That is exactly the reason I am doing this.
To see what makes someone buy something after he pirates it.
I think this is a good place because there are a load of diverse people. Plus we all pirate . |

I think this is a factor for some people's choice to go PC or Mac, PC pirated material being easier to come by.
Lol @ "even Photoshop". Probably one of the most pirated pieces of software. |

| Piracy is very, very bad for the current business model that most major record companies are taking. The tragic part is that anyone can download an excessive amount of media in a space of time faster than it takes to even drive down to your local music store and drop thousands of dollars for the exact same material - of course, you aren't getting an actual hard-copy unless you spend your own money on burnable discs or whatnot, so it's merely an exchange of information. Oh wait, that's not the tragic part. The tragic part is that we are entering an excellent and turbulent age of mass, instant information exchange, yet so ing few companies are adapting their business model to facilitate and capitalize off of this. Not to imply it's as easy as that, as nobody has really come up with a great alternative to things just yet, but it seems to me that with the advent of a technology that allows me to download a movie that's still in theatres, in dvd quality, faster than it takes for me to drive to the movie theatre and pay some kid $13.50 for admission to something they're going to display whether I am there or not, well, there's a ton of money to be made with something this amazing. But it seems as though media corporations would rather wage personal, legal wars against an ever-impending fate rather than lead an entertainment revolution that would secure their seats as technological administrators of the new century. |
