yeah, still had to fiddle with the settings (shadow quality) to get it to run perfectly smooth. game looks much the same to me though, but i havent played it in 5 months so the changes might be subtle.
anyway, off i go! :toothless |
cool...Ima finish Risen while I wait on it |

| I thought the original looked ing great, and had an excellent engine that ran even better than it looked. The only thing that needed improvement were the dialogue animations, but even those were not terribly distracting or anything. Hopefully they didn't change much in the way of performance, because I was floored by how smoothly the original ran. |

yeah, well im having a few issues :/
"quick" save seems to take ages, i dont remember it being that bad originally. only quick loaded once, but lost all sound when i did (my mate had similar sound issues in the original).
also my frame rate is pretty ordinary, though i do remember turning stuff down in ED, will continue to play with it.
otherwise, stoked to be back in rivellon :)
how you finding risen, kinetic? it wasn't gothic 2 for me but still really enjoyed it. the combat felt horrible though after playing divinity, especially as a mage, where all you could do was kite. |

One of the best stories in an RPG I have seen in a while for sure, and it runs extremely good. It takes a while to get going, and you start out so weak. Even at end game, as a warrior, high strength build I still seem week. It's hilarious as I kite the majority of mobs to nearby NPC's that alway help me kill them. I love the comments they make too like in Gothic "I hope all your kind die" and These filthy beasts just won't learn" with the heavy brit accents lol. Voice acting is top notch and the quests are pretty good. |

yeah, other than the combat (and the fact it was refused classification in australia, lol) i loved risen. definitely looking forward to risen 2 :)
more divinity news:
the rebalancing is good, makes things a little easier early on (too easy imo but it is the start of 100 hours i suppose). the graphics inside buildings look really great. still havent got the performance to my liking though outside. the only thing that really fixes it is to turn off ALL shadows and that makes things look pretty bland :/
my PC is almost 4 years old though i spose. but im only running 768 resolution with 8800 640MB card, wouldnt have thought it would struggle this much. |

I'm downloading this now so I can check it out. As long as your on a dual core, I would look into a GTX 460 or 5830. They are pretty cheap and u can run these games maxed out. It was strange with Gothic 4 which has pretty high system requirements, but it ran the best maxed out vs lowering AA and the like. |

| Alright got her running...my old save files won't work, but I decided I'll just play it again start to finish. Only thing I can see so far is maybe it looks slightly better, but frame rates are the same. Guess the new engine hasn't improved that, but it's still good. Everything maxed out with a 5870, Resolution 2048x1152 and an AMD 965. I can't decide if I want to go the magic build route, as that's what I did last time and it was awesome, or warrior build. Maybe I'll do the combat/warrior/str build, for this run through to make it different, though I'll miss throwing those fireballs :D |

due to the re-balancing, builds are somewhat different. so don't necessarily choose stuff that worked before, coz it might be different now.
one of the improvements are the spell effects, which really look/sound great now.
i finally turned down the geometry slider and its running perfectly now. of course i get that ugly draw line, but that's the price you pay i suppose. |

| I remember being really successful as an archer - you eventually got fireball arrows and the game was basically over, it was just a matter of acting out the motions of the narrative. |

| No problems with quick saves here. Works almost instantly. I had to map it to F5 to enable it. Mappped quick load to F9. Works perfect on my end. I just wish it wasn't capped at 30fps. Risen was beautiful and coming back to this at low fps is kinda meh, but still very immersive. |

| So what do u guys think? I think they did an excellent job on making a great expansion. Definitely more creative than a lot of being put out these days, quest wise. No "go get me 5 weeds, or kill 5 goblin" kinda fetch/kill quests which is refreshing. I'm lvl 43 and went the warrior route, and glad i did. The charge and dual 2 hand wielding pwns :toocool: |

Oh, I love it. I like the extra level of polish (those woeful animations have gone!), and the addition to special effects and sound, and I’d forgotten how ing funny some of the dialogue was.
However, my main complaint is that its way too easy now. On normal difficulty, ED was absolutely brutal. It took time and skill and daring to take on a group of enemies. It felt really rewarding. Of course, in some parts of ED things became way too easy due to the scaling (ie enemies unable to hurt you) but at around level 10 or 12 I bought two weapons, one that did +65 to melee, and one that did +60 to magic attacks. Im now level 18 or 19, and im still using these same weapons. The +60 to magic is brutal, I can use puny magic missile attacks, at 14 mana per shot, 1 second cooldown, over and over and the damage is insane. I can easily 1v4 anything I’ve currently found. That’s before you consider my minion & undead warrior (soon to be demon).
Rebalancing needed to be done to make the game more consistent, but I wish they’d added an extra difficulty level. Larian are aware of this and they’ve spoken about a patch, but I suspect by the time that happens I’ll have finished the game. not sure I’d play it through a third time or not.
Just got to the oribas fyords (sp?) so hopefully it gets harder. Combat was pretty much my favourite thing about divinity 2 :/ |
