So Trancension... you comin?
trancension
I'm still planning on it, but as of an hour ago, I *might* not. Just found out about some stuff I have to do for next week. And staying in, watching the NBA playoffs and knocking some of that stuff out might be in my best interest.

But I haven't done since WMC...and I need to get out. So we'll see.

This would be my 3rd time seeing you max!

So Max, did you get to enjoy any Freaknik activities while in town?

To all of you complaining about the lack of trance coming through town: why not rally together and bring someone in yourself? Lots of great underground names have been brought in by low key promoters other than Liquified (Matthew Dear last night, for example). You're not doing anything productive for the scene by griping on forums.

I disagree, voicing your opinion on forums that promoters read is the single best way to get those promoters to see what people are looking for.

This.

I'd like to think my constant griping had something to do with us getting Schulz. And I'd also like to think that my constant griping is playing a role in Gareth possibly coming near the end of this year. Could be wrong. Liquified could've been arranging them before I even typed a word. Don't care at the end of the day what brings them to the region. But if I'm going to go out to a show, it's going to be for trance (most of the time anyways). Keep in mind, I don't need to go out, and since I don't need to go out; I don't need to go out of my way to bring DJs I want to see. Chiming in on these forums during a break from work or inbetween classes is about as much effort as I'm going to put in.

Like I've said a hundred times now...I respect most of the DJs that come through Atlanta. They are good DJs and know how to throw down a party, other wise promoters wouldn't bother bringing them. But the only ones I'm interested are the ones who play a trancier style. And I will continue to point that out to the promoters who tell me to come out and see *insert whatever random DJ*.

Indeed Max, but there's a difference between saying "I'd really love to see _________ come through town" and bitching and moaning about how "Atlanta officially sucks." I'm simply suggesting to some of the whiners that they consider taking some initiative if they feel so strongly about it. Or, failing that, perhaps appreciate the fact that Atlanta has a better EDM scene than probably 90% of the country, and not take for granted what we do have here.

I too have selective tastes. I haven't been to a Liquified show since Joris Voorn last September, and currently the only bookings that've been announced that I'm honestly up for are Kazell and Aeroplane. The rest simply don't interest me. But you won't see me bitching and moaning about how Atlanta sucks just because my specific tastes aren't catered to by Liquified. I'll certainly share my opinion of who I'd like to see come through town, but piss and moan? No. I'm not that juvenile.

Why not consider booking a trance artist yourself? Why not start a trance night with locals? I've seen plenty of local DJs play just as well as the average headliner who rolls through town. I'm not suggesting that it's as easy picking a date and making a few phone calls--I've had some experience in putting together serious parties and I know it's tough to pull off--but it's not impossible to do. I'm not suggesting this to be dismissive, I'm being completely honest. If my friend with approximately jack in the way of serious promoting experience can successfully organize and pull off two WMC yacht parties (the first with US headliners, the second with 3 international headliners), then I'm sure some collective heads in Atlanta could bring in a trance DJ or two.

But if you don't want to contemplate it, can we at the very least cut out the pissing and moaning and keep our opinions constructive?

Thank you Max! Really wish I could have made it last night, you not only seem like a great dj, but a cool dude. I also see it this way. I really would like to believe that if enough people are complaining about something, and there are people who can do something about it on the forum, something could possibly be done. If none of us ever showed an interest in trance, who knows who might not have come. Liquified and any other promoter posts on here because they know we are interested and I'm sure they consider any complaints.

You people keep saying the same thing, "Bring them yourself." Ever consider that not everyone has the time to all the sudden become an EDM promoter. It's not something you just do as a hobby. It would take a lot of time and energy which not all of us have. We are hoping the people with power will do what they can to help us out. It's happened before, why stop now.
