The only pissing and moaning I've done on these forums is about how I hate how Opera attracts these little 18 year old fanboys to shows like Armin's. Oh, and I also pissed and moaned about how I think the last several Tiesto shows have been horrible. That's about it.

I don't really complain about a lack of trance. I simply tell Devin (Liquified), "Not interested in Nick Warren. Gareth Emery on the other hand..."

My friends have actually been throwing some house parties lately, and since they're all bedroom DJs who love trance (and other genres), it's been a lot of fun. Probably one of the reasons why I am not dying to see Above & Beyond or whoever come back through.

If my "needs more trance" comments are so annoying to you, you should just skim over my posts. Because that's all I post, in case you haven't figured it out yet. I don't mean to be annoying. I just want to see DJs like Max Graham, Markus Schulz, George Acosta, Andy Moor, Gareth Emery come through once every 12 months or so. Preferably not on Wednesday nights of course.

dont go or get a vip booth or move cities. that simple.

hate to break it to you but your general admission ticket doesnt entitle you to royaltys.

these people are going to show up to shows and they always will be everyone at some point and time was like that when they were younger so either spend some extra $$$ or dont go.

I've been going to these shows since I was 17. I was never like the current batch of 18 year old fanboys. They come to Opera looking for the "rave" experience at a DJ like Armin. Then again, I actually love the music and don't come looking to try ecstasy for the first time. I don't think I'm entitled to anything, I just want to see 21+ shows again. If it happens, awesome. If it doesn't, oh well. I'll keep asking.
PVDfan07
Why is it that we get the same responses everytime? Does no one have a new, intelligent response? "Don't go, or get vip or move cities" is a really dumb response. There is nothing wrong with us having an opinion. I also enjoy 21+ shows. We need to let the promoters who promote here know what we want. I really don't see what the big deal is. This happens everytime any of us "trance people" say anything that isn't praising the current situation. I'm sorry, but if I'm not happy, I will say something and hope someone hears it. You people always have a problem with us saying whatever about trance, but if u don't like it, pass over our comments. Saying something just to fuel the fire doesn't help.
trancension
Ya...I'm not sure why we (the trance people) always get these same responses. I realize we give ya'll the same responses...but why do we always go through this back and forth? Can't we just get over this?

Some of us are always going to post here and there about who we want to see or how the current string of DJs is unsatisfactory to us. It does not require you guys to tell us to move cities or to become our own promoters/event planners every time. Moving to a city solely based on it's EDM night life is silly. And if we were going to become promoters and bring in our own DJs, don't you think we would of done that by now?
Caution_BiPolar
I don't get why folks seem repeatedly shocked that members of a forum called TRANCE ADDICT might complain about a lack of trance.

As far as bringing DJ's ourselves... That takes time, money, and probably a few years of throwing smaller parties you HOPE the snobs of ATL nightlife would support long enough to enable you to bring any of these DJ's.

Except that there's never been a lack of trance in Atlanta over the years, at least compared to the vast majority of the rest of the United States. I mean for s sake, we JUST had George Acosta not even 2 weeks ago, and now we have Sander van Doorn 2 nights from now. Just because it's not as frequent as in a small handful of other cities, or because it might not be exactly who you really want to see, is absolutely no good reason to complain. Voicing your opinion is fine, but this forum has long been plagued by unnecessary pissing and moaning about the sad state of the Atlanta scene and to be quite honest it's getting really ing old. The Atlanta scene definitely has some major kinks, but it's sure as not half as bad as a lot of people here make it out to be.

I've always thought the 'Be glad for what you got' comments made little sense here. Regardless if it comes off as complaining or not, getting the names of the artist you'd like to see into this forum seems like a good reason to post. People are voicing their opinions about the line up this year ~ What's wrong with that? No one is shedding tears.

And quite frankly, the line up this year compared to last, for whatever reason, is a lot weaker on trance. Since our promoters happen to be active here, it's more of a reason to get out who you want to see. I won't blame anyone for that, but getting it out there never hurt.

For me though, getting SvD + Marco V is better than I could have imagined. I live in the burbs so I don't make it often but these are artist I've wanted BADLY to come here.

At least there is a few voices of reason on here. I, and I'm sure everyone else who has been "complaining," am not losing sleep over this. That fact that a smaller city like Charlotte can get people like Gareth Emery and, from what it sounds like, Menno de Jong, just makes it frustrating to live in a city with what I know has a healthy EDM scene. Of course moving to Charlotte just for the EDM scene is absurd. And, everyone should be smart enough to know that we can't all drop everything to become trance promoters. I know that if the shoe was on the opposite foot and all we ever got was trance, some of you guys would be saying the same things as us. Just let us have opinions. It isn't hurting anyone. No one is trying to start arguments, just making observations.

Eh, maybe we do have a sense of entitlement then. Maybe Liquified has spoiled us. But we did go a good 5 months without trance iirc. During that time, Charlotte got:

Markus Schulz
Gareth Emery
Andy Moor
Above & Beyond (I think they were our last trance act last fall though?)
Armin van Buuren

So...I guess we are spoiled and have this sense of entitlement. 4 of those DJs came to the SE and didn't stop here (let's not count A&B). A few people were really bummed about that...because those are 4 of the hottest DJs in the trance scene. Gareth being the big one in my opinion. Guy absolutely kills it everywhere he goes. And we just heard he's going back to Charlotte in June. Put that together, and it kind of sucks for people who don't want to drive 3.5-4 hours for trance.

Sure, we just got a nice batch: Acosta, Max, Doorn. But then you look at it...and for actual trance, there is nothing on Liquified's list. Some of the listed DJs play some trance. Some of those DJs are amazing (Kazell, Marco V). But there's no trance in sight for a few months again after Doorn tomorrow night.

If you take the gap we just had and the gap we're about to have. It makes sense for the trance addicts to be like "What has happened to Atlanta lately?" Liquified has spoiled us I guess. From the summer of 2003 to the fall of 2009...I was at a show once a month it felt like. Other people probably feel the same way. That stretch probably goes back even further, but I don't know.

I've always said Liquified has done a great job. They really have. I've thanked them dozens of times. My only complaint (and insult?) has been the lack of coordination or whatever you want to call it with the last few Tiesto shows. He's making it sound like we'll see some trance again in the fall. Which is nice and all, but damn, it does suck a little to go even longer without a trance act again.

So...in the meantime...can ya'll just let us trance fans voice our displeasure that Charlotte is getting some of the hottest trance DJs in the scene while Atlanta gets Steve Aoki and whoever...

If keep asking the same question your going to get the same answer.

to bring your TRANCE DJ's for one you have to go through their booking agency then you have to make a bid on that night in the and then after that bid hope that someone does outbid you ie: MIAMI. Differenct production companys have different relationships with different booking companys which is why we get S&D often vs say PVD and space. In the united states hip hop mecca which right now would be atlanta you have to bring names that will make money here in atlanta sorry but 99.999% of atlanta has no idea who the andy moor is hes not going to fill out a venue and the promoters arent going to make money and thats all its about in the end. I too also love to see the smaller djs come through trust me but electronic music isnt that big here in atlanta qutie yet like MIA or NYC or LA. If you want to see your smaller djs come promote electronic music more get it on the radio and so on so the general public demands it and you will slowly start to see your more specialized edm artists come through.

Just let devin do what he does best he wants this stuff playing out of every nightclub just like we do.

look at the strides we have come over the past years back in 2006 it was few and far between now we are up donig weekly events.

dont worry, be happy :D

Hmm okay, so since talking about wanting dj's to play here gets promoters attention, I demand that Liquified brings Basshunter! Botten Anna is the hottest trance track of the decade and I think he could really bring a great crowd! His track Dota inspired me on a deep level.

ps Tom is a douche for getting pwned by Max Graham and you s should goto shows instead of coming up with excuses to not go. :D
