Not gonna lie, that sounds pretty epic. I might be going there for the first time on May 7th for a friend's bday, and I'm excited to check it out. Out of curiosity, based on what ranking is Stereo ranked #14 in the world? |
DJ Mag's top 100 clubs.
And there was lots of chicks last friday. |

The number of hot girls was actually pretty high imo) But man dubfire is so overrated as a dj. |

Where have you been the last ten years? It's Stereo!
It's a magical room with amazing sound that both DJs and clubbers alike can't get enough of. Many DJs have some of their best nights in that space. The vibe is incredible and the crowd appreciates the DJ.
I travel monthly to that club, from Toronto to Montreal because there's just nothing like it. Most of the regular headliners from Calderone, Chus and Ceballos, Behrouz, DJ Vibe, etc will all tell you it's their favorite place to play in North America.
That DJ Mag chart is biased anyway, it doesn't matter what the rankings are. |

Hmm, well for one thing I spent 4 years in Vancouver while attending UBC. And I've never been huge into afterhour clubs as I just don't feel that I have as much energy as I'd like to after 3am...
The way you guys talk about Stereo (almost as though going there is a spiritual experience) definitely makes me want to check it out though. |

if you've done Gorg-o-mish, as a comparison, Stereo is like UBC and Gorg-o-mish is like, say, Kitsilano High School :p
Like most afters, the djs pretty much have free reign to drop the sort of music they love/want to experiment but the sound system and crowd is what makes it "Stereo" as well.
The other afters are good too: Circus, Redlite (especially compared to Van). Circus by the way is killing it with the Black OUt bookings for the summer.
You'll have to learn to re-set your clock if you want to experience good music at these afters or at the Montreal massives even. Stay up late on Fridays, sleep in Sat and you're good to go :) |

Yeah I've been to Circus a few times. Was there for the NYE party with Gareth Emery who's one of my top 3 DJ's and by the end of his set, around 7:30am I was on the "beds" on the left side of the main room, laying down and enjoying the music... But still, laying down while one of my favorite DJ's was on, what a shame...
I've been to one "massive" before, Sensation White in Amsterdam, and didn't find it too hard to dance 'til sunrise, mostly because it was so incredibly visually stimulating, which can't really be said about Circus.
Been to Red Lite once for Markus Schulz a while back and had a good time but I was definitely pretty tired by the end..
I like to idea of staying up late Friday night and sleeping in super late on Saturday, but then how to do you rework your body clock to be functional Monday morning lol?? |

but have you been to Gorg in Van? :p
it's a big drop off from Mtl if you haven't, though the afters in Toronto are a bit off a drop off too, in my opinion.
What I do to be ready for the Monday morning is make sure the recovery day (the Sunday) isn't spent sleeping entirely.. and of course take your supplements too. First day or two are gonna be a bit of a bitch, regardless, but you can minimize that somewhat.
It's all in the "Raving for Dummies" at Chapters :p |

PS, when you go to Stereo, don't expect to be wow'ed right off the bat. Much of its appeal is in the subtleties ... but then again you may see it from a different perspective and be blown away right from the beginning (or offended by all the Brians there :p)
PPS, Dubfire is a big meh :p |
