Markus booking manager won't get back to us, and that means none of us we all have tried over here.
Emery not gonna happen next month we already have a lot of money laid down for the month of June. Would love to bring him in but it just isn't feasible right now.
Everyone forgets we run two clubs, that's double the bookings, double the staff and double the days that we're open. |

Not to argue, cause it's really your guys loss if you do not book more trance, you are just leaving easy money on the table.
According to your list Gryphon only has DJ Rap booked in June (6/12), and then no one else until the end of July. (Marco V on 7/30). So is the DJ Rap booking really breaking the bank over at Gryphon :haha:
And do not tell me that glorified hallway attached to Gryhon is the other club you are talking about. If so who is booked there in June, maybe Prince or U2? Come on now Donnie, nice try.
Lastly Emery tix just went on sale for his Orlando show. They are only $10. So exactly how much do you think he is charging to play? Not much at all for the club to be able to charge $10, which is 25% of what you guys were charging some people for A&B. As for Markus, everyone knows he loves South Florida and playing here. I doubt his people would completely ignore you guys if you tried to book him
Thanks again for your efforts and I did not mean to rant. But where there is a will there is a way, so if Gryphon really wants to they can bring trance and profit at the same time ... |

This has nothing to do with Gryphon but how the hell can these clubs in orlando only charge 10 for these shows???? ATB in tampa and Orlando are also only 10!! |

Clubs can charge $10 because DJ fees are not set in concrete or as high as some people want everyone to believe they are. In fact DJs can & will negotiate their fees, just like anyone else negotiates prices for services. For example, Markus played @ Blue a few years ago on a saturday night to a small crowd of TAs when Groove Eric was still doing the "Fix" parties. That was a 100% free show. Obviously he negotiated his fee, down to $0, when he could've played at a bigger club and made $5000 to $10,000. Also Corsten has been in the top 5 or so for a decade, obviously he's going to cost a bundle and tix will be a fortune right?? Not quite. He plays in Tampa and Orlando all the time and the tix usually start at $10 & then get raised to $15. Corsten also played @ Mansion a few years ago, and even those pesky greedy French fukkers only charged $20. Clearly Corsten wants to play in Florida and negotiates his fee to do so at these prices. |

Wow seriously.. Give D a break. It is actually a really complicated process to get some of these shows to roll thru at the right time. Negative attitudes really don't help the situation. Gareth Emery is coming to Orlando because I have been begging the guy to come here for over a year. It is great there is support for Trance and you WILL see more and more great shows roll thru Florida as we see the support for these shows. I promise you that we are not riding around in jet planes eating caviar every day :) |

Because small nightclubs have much less overhead than big expensive rooms :) |

Dj Rap is the only booking that is released to the public now. You think I would really say that she is breaking the bank, come on. We have some good bookings coming in June just waiting on a couple things to get finalized before I can say anything.
If by "glorified hallway" you mean Pangaea then yes. It doesn't matter what you think of that club, it still is a club and does very very well. Everyone that looks from the outside in completely forgets about all the over that comes with running a venue. Staff, vendors, djs, utility bills, promoters, everyone that is in the office working all day 6 days a week to make things happen. Its real easy to say book this guy or this guy but at the end of the night you don't see the numbers and have to deal with the downside. When something looks like a great night to you, it actuality it wasn't the greatest night for us.
Example:
Above & Beyond yea it looked like an EPIC ing night to all of the guests!! Yea it was an awesome night of music and a packed house but in reality and business land, bar sales were low. From what we have noticed and other clubs down here have noticed is that the Trance acts come and the bar sales slack. Maybe your doing different things more power to you, do what you want but this is a reason we don't bring acts like this that often. Why would we? when we can book our Residents for a tenth of the cost and do 50% more bar sales and the people love our residents and they pack house just like Friday was packed.
At the end of the day this is a BUSINESS and we do our best to keep the different variety of all our guests happy. Being around for 5 years we are obviously doing something right. 5 years is an eternity, especially for a club down here. Trust me though we will bring a couple more trance acts, it was a good night musically and energy wise in the club was amazing.
Our whole thing is that we like to mix it up genre wise, so that we can please everyone and it gives everyone the opportunity to see what a great venue we have to offer. I know I have been getting calls from people that came on Friday and have been asking what is going on the next couple of weeks. If you were in there last Saturday it was a great night with our Resident Roland, he packs house and holds that dance floor until early in the am hours.
In the past year we have brought a great mix of talent:
-Matt Darey
-Dubfire
-Infected Mushroom
-Cedric Gervais
-Funkagenda
-Patrick M
-Louis Puig
-Timo Maas
-Johnathan Peters
-Serge Devant
-Steve Lawler
-Terry Hunter
-Junior Vasquez
-Danny Tenaglia
-Victor Calderone
-Oscar G
-D:Fuse
-Mark Farina
-Paul Oakenfold
-Trent Cantrelle
-Jojo Flores
-Above and Beyond
We have Chris Lake, Robbie Rivera, DJ Rap, Lee Burridge(TBC), Marco V., Funkagenda, The Crystal Method all coming up. Show me one club down here bringing such a mix of talent across the genres. We cover it all and thats the main reason we have been here for 5 years and hope to be around for another 5 years.
We do hear the people talking and we're gonna work on getting more Trance but as for right now we are booked solid up until August.
IMO that is why the scene has fallen off down here. Everyone is so ing genre picky, oh I'm not going he plays house, I wanna hear trance or vice versa. Everyone wants this and that to happen but only support the venue when they bring what that person wants to hear. More than likely that person will never come to that venue again because they don't like what is played there the other 51 weeks out of the year. Sure I don't like trance but I went out and I enjoyed myself fully last Friday, hell I even caught SVD and PVD during conference, wasn't my cup of tea but I went out and supported and watched and listened to them for a couple of hours, luckily I was at Space and went upstairs and watched, Adam Beyer, Paul Ritch and Ida Engberg destroy the loft and then caught Chus & Ceballos and Mark Knight tagging teaming on the terrace.
I wanna be a pusher for the scene and get it back to where it was in the late 90's, those were fun days! I like going out now and catching acts or genres that I might not listen too. Thats the only way venues will survive.
A good example of this is a couple weeks ago, I wanted to make it down to the Pickle to catch Henrik Schwarz because I've been on this deep house kick, since I've been playing a lot of opening sets. None of my group of friends wanted to go down because they watched videos of him and said they would be bored. In the end I had a couple people on another forum I'm on ranting about how he blew that place up with an amazing live set. The words I heard from people were "Life changing" and now I'm kicking myself for missing that, believe me it won't happen next time. In the end we need to support the venues so that they can continue to bring different acts.
Just my two cents, sorry for the long rant |

| Maybe the reason bar sales are down during big trance acts is because it is impossible to get the bar or even be served with all the people in there. Perhaps, there is some way they can change the lay out in Gryphon one day to make it with bars in several parts or something......it's crazy in there when it gets busy. |
