Why is everyone complaining...No one else has brought TRANCE acts the entire year but Gryphon, other then PVD @ SPACE! Why don't you guys go rant on LP or Louis Diaz on why they're not booking Trance acts either? In the end guys Donnie is right, it's all about BUSINESS $$$ and trance people are known not to spend that much at the bar. | been there and done that. Enough has been said about Space.
Donnie - yes I said what I said about Chris Lawrence because the he plays is WAY out there. I didn't hear nothing 'trancey' coming from him. was just noise to me. Although, I still went out and supported. But Now I know he DEF isn't my cup of tea.
I can go out and listen to Polka music with friends and still have a good time. But in the end I don't love Polka.. I love edm.. I think this goes for everyone here.
No one is complaining... ppl are just always going to want more.
I'm on a Super 8 and Tab hunt after their ASOT 450 set in Wroclaw
 and with all the nu disco, techno, AND trance I get in NY - i want MOARR! |

Yup! It just shows that people are passionate about the music, whether it's just trance or various types of electronic music.
Donnie, I want to thank you for being very involved in the forum in regards to responding to all the posts, both positive and negative. It show's that you do care about the scene and are not just trying to promote events. I've seen promoters that join the forum to promote an event and you never hear from them again. keep it up, it's greatly appreciated. :D | Donnie & the club treated me like a king!Just like it was 2001:stongue: |

Thanks for filling me in that Space opened in 2000, I know when it open. I help out with events over there and my partner is one of the head promoters. I was at work and missed putting in the early 2000's, also, my bad lol.

You are welcome, any time. And something tells me you were in about 9th grade when Space opened and you have no clue what it was like in that club back then, much less in any 21+ club in the late 90s. And I would not brag about helping out with their events lately, as they are the worst bookings & events ever ...

In all honesty the scene down here would not of survived with out Space. You say someone would of come in and done what LP did but better, I call that BS. LP is a visionary and a great businessmen. No other club owner in there right mind would of come into that war zone of downtown and did what he did, everyone else would say that hole. LP is the reason for the 24hr liquor license, now the banana republic we call Dade county is trying to him, but thats a whole other topic. So I digress. If it wasn't for him the area wouldn't have been cleaned up to its state today, the property values wouldn't have increased and there sure as hell wouldn't be any other clubs in that hole of an area. |
Once again you prove how little you know. Who said anything about the downtown miami area???? There has been nightlife in Miami for decades without any warehouses in cracktown needing to be converted into clubs, which is basically what Space did. In the 70s there was nightlife, in the 80s there was nightlife, and in the 90s there was nightlife. All without Space or the 11th street warehouse district. EDM really started here in the late 80s when the british acid house invasion started hitting some south beach spots. But it was not until the mid 90s forward that the EDM scene in Miami blew up. We had clubs like Shadow Lounge, Liquid, Level, Groove Jet, Crobar and Opium Garden all playing EDM to packed clubs every weekend at that time, along with dozens of smaller clubs playing EDM as well. We did not need Space or any other clubs at all to be opened in Downtown Miami to contribute to the EDM scene, much less save it. All Space did was add to a scene that was already great, and they only survived this long because of the 24-hr-liquor license.
I agree it is unfair what the city is doing and hope Space beats them. God forbid I want LP to win, but I hate government BS like that, and do appreciate his willingness to fight them. But you are believing too much of what your buddies @ Space are telling you, and they have a reason to exagerate since they work there. Worse yet you act like Space has cleaned up & revitalized the downtown area. Are you in crazy. That area is still a hole, and the people going to space and other clubs in the area recently have only added to & diversified the scum content in that area. I would love to see you go to the front of Space on a Wednesday night at 12 with a $50,000 Rolex on & stack of cash out in your hand, then start walking west and hang out in that area for an hour. Unless you make it out of there with the Rolex, cash and alive, without having to shoot anyone, you cannot tell anyone LP has reviltalized that area one iota ... |

I am 25 but once again from my ealier post I left out the early 2000's, sorry for that. Not everything was all about clubs, I remember going to a lot of underground raves in Miami, Lauderdale, WPB and Orlando. The first time I was at Space 34 was 2002, fake ids are a great thing and when your uncles have friends in the industry, that helps out a lot. So yea I may be young but I was still around to experience things back then, don't bash my age when you have no idea of my background. I remember when they would set the stage up outback and have PVD play out there, I remember watching LP get hoisted up at the closing party in the cryogenics, blah blah blah I could go on. Sure there were a lot of clubs playing EDM back in the day and Space put a lot of those places out of business, I've heard it straight from the owners mouth of Shadow Lounge Space put them out of business, just recently actually since he's very active in another forum I'm on.
How did I prove how little I know?? I'm speaking present day that Space kept the scene alive and is still doing along with a lot of other places now. How many of those clubs are still around and playing EDM today?? Space only kept it going and now a lot of places are bringing EDM back into rotation.
Av1 in your opinion Space has the worst bookings ever, I don't really see that. Do you say that because they aren't bringing Trance?? The next couple weeks IMO are pretty damn good. Martin Buttrich was just there, Chus and Ceballos, Heidi, Luca Bachetti, Funkagenda, Magda, and Stefano Noferini all coming up. Their pool party isn't bad either AVB, Sander K, Avicii and more TBA. That's a pretty solid lineup.
Anyways we could go on for days here about this. In the end we all love the music. I'm gonna do my best to listen to who you guys want to see down here and try and make it happen. I'm not on here to argue with anyone just stating my opinions
I like it here its fun.:D |

| Donnie it's all good man. Let's just agree to disagree about some of these things. It's no biggie, and we would needlessly go on forever otherwise. I give you credit for bringin A&B and hope better things come later. So good luck with the bookings @ Gryphon. I'll support when I can by showing up for DJs I like, most notably Marco V on your current schedule ... |

Agreed! Thanks for the support. I will keep you all filled in on tickets, should be the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know when I hear about more Trance or maybe even some bookings outside of trance that you might be interested in.
Av1 thanks for the help on the other thread :) |

Whats funny is all three of those shows have been no where near Jersey Shore status. We draw a little nicer crowd than the usual places that bring those guys.
Victor was straight packed with beautiful girls and I honestly saw about 20 meatheads in there, nothing against them they like the music and they support.
JP was slammed too, I didn't make it in that night because I couldn't find parking.
Robbie had a great looking crowd also
Infected Mushroom was a dj set full on Psy Trance and it was insanity
The greatest thing about the old days was that you would go out to a party and it was a place where everyone could come together: gays, straights, girls, guys, fat bitches, skinny bitches, fat dudes, skinny dudes, drag queens, transvestites, meatheads and everything in between. Nobody gave a , you were there for the music and to have a good ing time. Now we all bitch, there's gonna be jersey shore dudes there, there's gonna be to many gays or lesbians blah blah blah blah if you love EDM support it. Thats what makes the night so much fun, seeing all these different characters gathered together in one room to support the music!! I love Space just for that reason, its always a fun party with the craziest mix of people. |
God there is alot of crap to wade thru on this thread.. Donnie we should hang out - I can't tell you how many times I get into a heated argument about this crap.. or genre snobbing. Truer words are hardly ever spoken around here.

I don't know how blind you guys are but I haven't seen one person here "genre snob".
You guys get it twisted in your tiny little heads that just because we don't like some tacky guido infested dj - that we automatically hate the genre.
:stongue: you guys are talking for no damn reason and you don't even know any of US to come to that conclusion.
you may like it... majority of us wouldn't be caught dead at VC and definitely JP.. FFS even the NY'ers hate JP - anyone seen - Trule Life before? I'm a clubber iirc :haha: |

I wasn't speaking directly to you or anybody on this site. I am speaking about the scene down here as a whole, there is a ton of genre snobbing people around.
I can't stand JP either, glad I couldn't find parking that night but Victor was on of the best sets I've heard this year and if you would of read my prior post, we don't get the guido infested crowds, that you say travel with these events. Sure there may be some scattered throughout the crowd but thats normal with any South Florida nightclub. At least this isn't Pacha :D |

Donnie,
Me and my friend Ronald ( booked it through you) got a table for A&B on the dance floor and had an amazing time, thanks for setting that up! Our bottle girl Linda was awesome too! I am a hardcore trance addict, but love EDM in general. I last got a table at Gryphon for Kaskade and had awesome time then too. The atmosphere was great that night. You can say both acts are on different ends of the EDM spectrum, but a good party is a good party and I can appreciate EDM that makes the ladies the dance, including my gf!
You do what you can and hopefully south florida comes out and supports.
Also, I live right in dowtown miami, a couple blocks from space, so to go up to gryhon it has to be a big named act, because of the logistics of course. But if it is worth it like a A&B or Marco V, who I have never seen before than I will go to support.
Furthermore,
Not everyone can get a table, so cheap pre-sales tickets are a plus. And the average clubgoer knows you can't expect to showup and pay that same price. So do your due diligence and buy beforehand. If you end up paying more at the door it is your own fault.
And I have no rebuttal to bar sales being so low. Space, Mansion, Cameo, all will say the samething about trance acts, and Tiesto doesn't count, love'em but he is another debatable topic. But at 7 bucks a pop, maybe you can sell enough red bull to make up the difference, lol!
In closing, do what you can! I can appreciate someone who's cup of tea isn't trance music trying to bring different acts.
Special wish list ( would get a table for these acts):
-Super 8 and Tab
-Kyau and Albert
-Stoneface and terminal
-Ronski Speed |
