Lawler used to be a sure thing. Almost every time I saw him between 2004-2007, he killed it. I think he kind of struggled with modernizing his sound through the minimal phase, but I think he's starting to get his magic back. I heard from multiple sources that he killed the Space Terrace in Miami during WMC this year.
Although I haven't liked Lawler that much at all in the last couple of years, he used to be my favourite DJ so I've decided to give him another chance by checking him out at Stereo in June.

I agree with this. Not only does it get annoyingly packed up there, the sound has been so quiet the last couple of years that you pretty much have to be right in front of a speaker to get into the set. There is a very limited amount of space where the music sounds good. |

I pretty much confronted him about this on the Sasha/Digweed cruise last month in Miami. The convo went something like this:
me: "Hey Sasha, how are you?"
Sasha: "Hey, I'm doing great"
me: "Soooooooo I had to come all the way from Toronto to see you here since...you know...you stiffed us..."
Sasha: "Ah man, I feel so terrible"
me: "Twice..."
Sasha: "I owe Toronto and that's why I have something reaaally special planned for this summer"
me: "Really? I can't wait....any hints?"
Sasha: "No sorry, but trust me that it'll make up for everything"
So I pretty much have to believe what he said, he seemed genuinely sorry for the last two no-shows....guess we'll wait and see...I"m guessing it'll be along the lines of an extended set.... |

Interesting...maybe he'll repeat 2005 and he'll do the sunrise thing with Lawler. It seems this thread derailment involving Sasha is relevent after lol.
I've been soured after the 2nd time he's cancelled and have avoided listening to his past stuff as a result but Canada Day could end up being crazy. |

And they'll pay the cops off so the party goes on for however long Sasha and Lawler deem it necessary. |
