Is promoting events in advance a bad thing?

I'm just trying to get along with the new TA event scheduler, but it drives me crazy when I see some events being promoted for July but there's no mention of others just a few weeks out.
I would like to get some buzz going about Cressida at Circus on May 15th, for example. So many TA's loved his last set, it deserves as much mention as EDC IMO! While some may say that such promotion trumps an upcoming week that's closer, people sometimes fly or drive in from out of town, make plans ahead of time, etc.
Just wondering what others think, and if putting up a Cressida [LA] 5/15 at Circus thread would be all that bad? |

I stopped bothering with posting some of Circus events here. Every time I've done so, it's gotten deleted or I hear crap from someone.
Oh and BTW.. FYI all you ACOSTA & Underground Heroes' fans!

In my experiences as a promoter in Chicago and here in LA, there's never a such thing as too much publicity. Promote your events for as long and as hard as you possibly can. As long as the information you state is all 100% accurate and you don't anticipate any major changes happening at the last minute.
Also, on a side note, artists LOVE getting promoted ahead of schedule. |

We usually post the threads as soon as we have the lineup finished and the flyer is created and approved, but we can start posting threads for the upcoming events farther in advance and just update the flyer/lineup as we go.

Nope. That's never happened. I only ask that everyone has one thread per event. If you're the promoter and someone has started the thread before you I just merge the two threads (thanks to your suggestion by the way, it didn't even occur to me to do that :p). I'm not in the business of deleting threads for no reason :) |

| Darin put it spot on. Never hurts to get the word out early. But promoting here on TA is usually handled pretty well by Trin and Malia. No need to push it further. If anything, start pushing it in other places. |

***Here we go again, We don't mind if you are posting to help out the club and our event but when you go and post another event that is happening that night also and it's effecting our money that is when we tell you to stop helping!!!!!!!!!!!!
