That said, there has been some superb score out of Hollywood in the last few years, Zimmer's Dark Kinight and Frost/Nixon are good examples of mainstream film with excellent scores.

I was just listening to his score for 'The DaVinci code'
I thought it was splendidly good, and reminded of some of the better 80s epic scoring. |

The score actually was deemed "too scary" for a 12A certification by the film certification board in the UK (BBFC), so it had to be toned down for the UK cinematic release otherwise they would only grant a 15 certification.

Splendid times we live in.
I would have thought music that comes out of the X-Factor etc far scarier.
Different topic however. |

A score without the actual film is pretty meaningless and arguable void of musical intellectualism or wit. You are basically listening to pop music. The score to the daVinci code as a score was mediocre just like the film. A good score isn't just a score that sounds nice and this is what most composers just don't get. You don't have a filmscore if you don't have a film. The score to the sequel was appalling. Again you might think it sounds neat but the cues are seriously flawed. Ending on a half cadence while the action settles to nothing as the door of the conclave closes. Just one example of extremely poor scoring. |

| This guy sounds to me as if he wants to impress with throwing around words that are simply too rudimental to sound fancy enough to give the illusion of him actually knowing anything about scoring. Quit wasting our time. |

| Sorry you see it that way. Could you be perhaps more specific regarding which part you find rudimental. I can understand your anger as I did sort of indirectly slight your music but it was an honest assessment regarding the standards Hollywood would expect. No need to get your knickers in a twist. |

I really don't think anybody cares who he is D man ;)
for those of you that run Orchestral sample libraries, acouple of questions.
Does the latest EWQL Play update solve the issues that many people apparently had with stability? I'm looking at the Platinum or Gold bundle.
Is it better to run the sample libraries on an external drive (i've heard this 'tip' from a couple of sources) thereby creating it's own buss? |

He's a knowitall who doesn't really know a lot of anything.
There are people in this world you will meet who are actually rather slow intellectually but know heaps of useless bs about 1 specific topic. Most likely while everyone was at the senior prom getting laid, "Mad for Brad" (how fvckn gay of a name could you possibly have though of? let me name myself "Mad for Angelina" cause I'm a cliche unoriginal ) was reading about scoring and how to masturbate.
Anyway, in effort to compensate for their true level of stupidity, they go on and on and on about a topic, ambushing people with nonsense that might as well have been written in Latin.
The "ultimate intellectualization" of a ANYTHING in life, is KNOWING HOW TO TEACH it so people UNDERSTAND wtf you are talking about. If you can't even teach a topic properly, that makes me question how much you really know about intellect in the first place.
Example.
Noone on this board knows this, but I know more about chemistry than Einstein. At NO POINT in my life will I ever refer to water as dihydrogen oxide because as much as I know about chemistry. I know 99% of people don't have a fvckn clue what I'm talking about.
That was more an involuntary spew of intellectual diarehea than anything. Not to mention you could have saved yourself 99% of that long ass post if you realized he was doing it FOR FUN. All I want to know is if Mad For Brad is so smart, why was *I*.. one of the biggest musical numbskulls on this board, smart enough to realize HE WASN'T DOING IT FOR MONEY? - maybe because he said he JUST ING STARTED? Hows that for a clue?
The saddest part of all of this is it took me about 2 minutes to read all that irrellevant garbage (that thankfully the only person on this board who could understand was able to interpret clearly for the rest of us) and I will NEVER ever get that 2 minutes of my life back. Could have learned more watching a drunk monkey hump my virus. |
