2010.05.27 [OC] GIANT presents Markus Schulz, Kristina Sky, Daniel Minaya @ SUTRA (pg. 8)

Overall I had a great time. It was my first time at Sutra though I've passed by there a few times.
Got there at around 9:30p, stood in line for around 30 min, got in without any issues. Hung out in the patio area and met some cool people. I also met that lurker that DaveT was talking about, Sergio, very cool guy. Some people spotted me which I was surprised since I tend to change my looks from time to time. :D
Heard everyone's set, very nice mellow mix of Minaya. Followed with Kristina and playing some mix stuff not as vocally...although I'm not a fan of vocals myself. I enjoyed Marcus's set. I was near the front for his first hour, got to hear a nice classic that I played 4 years ago as well as hearing I don't know if it's a new remix of Jan Johnston's Flesh...so I was quite surprised of that, since I liked the techy edge to it. His set did have dips here and there...some moments of tech, than some uplifting, but I still think around the 20 minute mark to 45 minutes were just bangin'. Of course by personal taste, I love it hard and techy.
I had to go outside for the remainder 30 min of his set because I was pretty close to the left side speakers which were projected in the direction of my ears...and me without my ear plugs.
I did like the sound there...but just imo....wasn't some points of the highs a little screechy?
Anyways...all in all, had fun, wish I was able to find more TA's there since I actually had a few CD's that I was handing out of my recent recorded set at Circus (which was last week).

I was watching youtube videos and stumbled upon LPHIsteve's.
Maybe it's Markus Shulz's (with Justine) new version of Cass & Slide - "Perception"
I thought it was really familiar and enjoyed the new version.

| It was a cool club IMO just way too packed, alomg with some sketchy people, mostly rude. Ive never heard KS play so hard, kinda cool. Markus was pretty good IMO, and def need to get VIP next time because gen ad seems to have many blocked views. |

Finally recovered! :crazy:
Was a bit thrown off when I showed up with a gig stick full of new tunes and saw no CDJ2000s in sight :eyes: :eek: :conf:, but luckily I had a small case of other CDs in my record bag and was still able to play. Aside from that mishap, thought the night was great :). Place was PACKED!!
Always a pleasure playing with Minaya. Such a stand up guy (as I'm sure he knows ;)). Markus had his DVJ thing going, nice added touch to any set. Lots of his own stuff and loved hearing the Flesh remix. Venue still is one of my favorites in OC, although the tables in front are def a bit of a buzzkill. Khaz made an appearance and Markus gave him props on stage while he played Dark Heart Waiting. Great track :)
Nice to see everyone out, it was a good time!
Looking forward to tomorrow night and hearing Markus play a long set.

kristina, you threw down an amazing set! one of the best ive heard from u. heres the pic we took on friday. it was nice meeting u.
yeah sutra is prob the best venue in oc. shark is too dark + sound system sucks and barely any visuals (but they have the best bookings). heat's dance floor was too small and the fog machines were annoying. avec's sound system/visuals arent that great either.
