Ian Van Dahl is two blokes - they were in Future Music magazine.

Their songs are excellent compared to other commerical stuff out there, but compared to other trance.

Funnily enough I've never heard of Ian Van Dahl apart from on these forums....
It's never been played commericially here...

I do remember liking a Perfect Sphere Remix of Castles in the Sky once though... but I can't rememeber how it goes. Time to search through my mp3s..

Ian Van Dahl is a bit cheesy, but the tracks are still good to hear on a huge system at a huge party...really.

Some chicks voice in a trance track, never hurts me.

i dont care what any one says these kind of songs are what people unfamiliar with "trance" and think this is what genre is really like!

when in fact real trance is stuff like ferry, tiesto, pvd, armin, dumonde, cosmic gate, shokk etc etc etc!

no F***in way can you compare ian van dahl to any of the above artists named!

go out and compare armin - blue fear to
ian van dahl - will i!

its impossible as ian van dahl is the epitamy of commercial cheesy crap! and is for children who think these songs are "trance"!

i never said ian van dahl was club music...its chart trance/commercial trance. i was just commenting on what i thought of it musically and its effect on the scene. the producers behind it change their names when they do underground club stuff.:p

as for the cheese remark...tbh i dont really use the word "cheese" when describing trance. its old hat media slang that people use to pidgeon hole music they dont like. If you define the word cheesey as music that is overtly happy ie."la-la-la, sun is shining, i love you forever, bleurgh" then all those i called cheesey have made music like this. If you define it as trance that has had commercial success and is played the same amount of times as say, Micheal Jackson, on the radio, then, no, they arent cheesey because they havent achieved this level of sales with their work (van dyk almost has a couple of times).

btw this is all IN MY OPINION so dont get too bogged down with it...:happy2:
