I'm not sure that's a good example. Ibuprofin is the most basic anti-inflammitory. You could have gone to the store and self-medicated yourself w/ over the counter Advil. I feel this is not the same as if you went to a DR with coughing, a fever of 102, post-nasal trip, other painful symptoms. (i.e. if you have an infectious disease and they wanted to prescribe you an antibiotic.)

It isn't about WHAT he prescribed, but the fact he just was prescribing something without doing anything.

but if you're complaining about muscle pain...then why not prescribe something to help take care of it?

me personally, i hate it when i go to a DR, tell them all the symptoms of something i'm dealing with , and they said, "well drink fluids, take aspirin, and get some rest". .

incidentally, what did you regular DR say when you followed up w/ him weeks later?

Ironically, I wasn't able to. Insurance changed and I was too busy with school and football (soccer) after school I never took the time. I did go to one doctor that thought it was very possibly scar tissue and wanted to use some sound waves to possibly break it up. Same thing happened though, got really busy again.

As for hating when a doctor sends you home to use aspirin and drink fluids, you do that because you grew up around people going to the doctor and getting a pill for everything. You equate drugs with health.

Yeah, but is that just happen stance, or was it genuinely because you took the meds?

public health, i dunno. I wouldn't give up hope on thinking good measures can be taken in spite of the money involved

cause i took the meds man. antibiotics actually do serve a purpose :)

kinda like if you have a scrape/cut/laceration in your skin...you can put just a bandaid on it; or you can use antiobitic cream and make it heal faster.

But by your own admission, you get drugs every time. So is it the drugs, or is it really just your body getting over it.

Mono aside, you should try and see what happens if you don't get drugs next time. Just do it.

I think the medication does help, but the problem arises when your body comes to rely on it, and your immune system can't handle serious problems. If you come across something that's become immune to antibiotics and you have an immune system reliant on drugs then you're ed.

How many times have you been on antibiotics? Infancy (sp?) aside.

I've taken it 3 times in my life. 2 times because of pneumonia, 1 time because of an inflammation of a tendon I damaged.

Also yeah Norway.
