shoved a tube down my throat, down my esophagus and I could feel it driving down through my stomach, while I gagged, burped and drooled and my body convulsed.

How about, "weirdest mechanical upgrade/maintenance"? |
Unfortunately, I do not record data about time spent offline. |

| Also root canal treatment is the most painful thing I ever experienced. Including listening to a Deep House set by Bas. |

They were checking out your abdomen?
Did they enter in the northern or southern gates? |
They made 2 incisions and shoved metal pole thingys in - 1 through my belly button and 1 through an incision near the top of where your cooter starts. They were removing a benign tumor (that they didn't know was benign at the time...) off of my ovary and cauterized a bunch of endometrial tissue (because of endometriosis).
They found the tumor in November of 2007 and put me in for emergency surgery because they couldn't tell if it was cancerous (because I was hemorrhaging,) and didn't get the surgery until April 2008. So for 5 months I was stressed as thinking I was going to die of ovarian cancer. One of the worst experiences ever.
EDIT:
Was also during the time I met Moral and Ben (gehzumfeutel) for the first time. I wasn't super energetic or peppy and I kinda wish that I had met them when I was healthier. |

I think the worst experience I have had was when I fractured my elbow. I was waiting around for two hours before I was seen in a great amount of pain. My arm was locked in a 90 degree position and any movement of my arm almost caused me to pass out, and I have a pretty high pain tolerance.
I go in to get a cat scan and the guys like "I need your arm fully extended". I chuckled and said BULL, this bitch aint moving! I couldn't get it done so the doc stuck a needle in my elbow right in between the bones. A painkiller I believe so I could extend my arm. Feeling that needle squeeze in between the bones was by far one of the most painful things I have ever felt, and I've cracked my head open 3 times.
There was a hot 20 something nurse in there too. The doc asked her if she's ever seen this and she said no, so she stayed and watched me at my most vulnerable moment in my life. I kinda turned my head away and started breathing really heavy shaking uncontrollably trying to stay conscious. :nervous:
It was so painful I remember the exact date, June 9th 2008 and thanks to the brilliant naval doctors it's ed up for life! |

That sucks dude.
I know a bit about needles in the elbow. When I had a staph infection in my elbow, the doc stuck a needle in and rooted around for a bit, trying to extract enough pus to send it off for analysis. The infection on its own hurt pretty bad already, and I could feel the needle like scraping in there.
And she ended up not getting enough pus anyway, so it was a total waste. Fffffuuuuuu.
:wtf: |

Oh man already being in so much pain and feeling the needle rub up against your bone is excruciating. |

Actually, having just remembered, I've had a lumbar puncture before and I'm telling you it's was one of the most painful things I have ever experienced (and this is coming from a man who suffers from cluster headaches).
They described the procedure to me and I was a little nervous, but I kept it together. They introduced an anaesthetic to my lower back, which was painful in itself. After that I was like "phew, at least the pains over, I'm anaesthetised", they were like "nope, you're not" all they did was anaesthetise my lower back so I wouldn't feel the needle going in initially. It totally eluded me that they couldn't anaesthetise the central nervous system without me being under a general anaesthetic.
Anyway, they had to get a result quickly as possible as my temperature was ridiculously high (circa 40.5 C), so they just stuck the needle inbetween by vertebrae,(which they scraped) and into the spinal column. I didn't feel the needle going into my skin, but when it hit the spinal column, me, my descriptions just wont ever portray what I actually felt.
I was told not to move at all, otherwise it would of caused some damage, so I basically sat still, stared at a single point in the room, not being able to do anything and nearly passed out, with more than a few tears running down my cheek. A pain shot through my entire body like all my nerves were on fire, yet I could do nothing about it, I had to remain still. I got fainter and fainter until just as my eyesight was about to go, they had the needle fully out and I finally got over the ing thing.
Anyway, there were many doctors and students in the room and with me facing the other way, I had no idea who actually did the procedure. All I know, is that I never want to go through that again. Ever.
Considering how painful the procedure was, I'm assuming it was an amateur who did it. After all, I've seen House and people on there take LP's like it's breakfast, it must be like that in real life, surely?
But maybe someone can validate what's actually involved in this procedure? Jenny?
Or anyone else who's had a lumbar punture? |

People on Greys Anatomy are usually in a lot of pain during those, but then they are supposed to be interns so that could be that.
Thankfully the most painful/uncomfortable procedure i can remember having is local anaesthetic in my toe. Not really painful but two needles stuck under the toenail is very uncomfortable especially if like myself you think that a needle is the scariest ing thing in the entire world. Then a simple shot gets a lot mroe complicated. |
