Custom laptops in Toronto

I was wondering if anyone from this board knows of a place that can build custom made laptops, now im talking about building a laptop with good quality parts, no dell, HP, or any of those lower quality builds. Only places I can find are in the states, but i dont want to pay the extra customs and fees that come with the package.

Willing to spend $2000 or more, something equivalent to a macbook pro or better perferably.

why? i dont want a macbook. Too expensive and not worth the money with the specs you get.

Here's a website I found:

Well Dell and HP is not really lower quality stuff...you can go to www.alienware.com and still find some great custom built laptops for good prices.

there are tons of computer stores that build a computer for you with whatever specs.. not sure about a laptop though because it is much tougher to do but you can always try to walk in and talk to someone.
i know of one store on bathurst and steeles, around there.

The new Envy 14 and Envy 17 just came out (in the US). I'm in the process of getting a custom Envy 14. Looks good, significantly cheaper, and better specs than you can get on a Macbook Pro.

Do people still build their own laptops? Seems as though you would end up with something huge, since you would have to get some generic housing and not a nice thin laptop that has been engineered from the ground up.

i was thinking the same thing, it would very tough and time consuming and would cost probably more than 2k for that. if you want a good laptop i'd recommend a lenovo or sony (if you like more stylish look)
feelgood
Unless you're going for a laptop for gaming, you should be fine with a high end prebuilt laptop.

Toshiba has the best track record based on a test done by tomshardware (cant find the link) HP/Compaq scored the lowest. Ive owned a toshiba netbook for the last year and its been through everything and is still working fine.

Something like this is incredibly powerful and around 2g's
