How is it righteous to measure one's success by their level of well-being?

I don't recall you mentioning "well being" I distinctly recall you saying "a strong and supportive social network". Although "well being" is another abstract, unmeasurable, subjective concept that probably just means "happiness".

Did I really have to say it explicitly for you to understand that longer life, less stress, better health, etc. meant well-being? Lol.

Actually it isn't abstract or unmeasurable at all. While it is subjective, there are parameters that it can be measured by. See my post above yours.

So regular exercise and a healthy diet is a good measure of success?

You can't seriously have such a shallow existence you think that survey bull is what life is all about.
Silky Johnson
Yep, that's exactly what I'm saying here.

Well, let's recap, shall we?

So success = well being.

Well being = longer life, less stress, better health, etc.

=> Success = longer life, less stress, better health.

Wrong. Strong social networks are linked to better health, longer life, less stress

So things that lead to longer life, less stress, better health are a measure of success.

=> Regular exercise and healthy diet = Measure of success.

And your link doesn't work. So if the above is wrong, perhaps you should do some articulatin' of what you are talking about.
Silky Johnson
Oh, so you commented on what I said without even looking at my link? Pffft.

Works fine for me.

Again, wrong. There is far more to longer life, less stress, better health than just diet and exercise. I never even mentioned diet and exercise. You're pulling out of nowhere.

Are you really this thick? My point is that there is far more to long life, less stress, better health than ANY single factor, so calling a strong social network a measure of success is just as ing stupid as calling someone's diet or workout regime a measure of success.

Now I've read your link, it cites "Physical Environments" and "Gender" alongside "Social Support Networks" as key determinants, which just makes your argument look even more ing stupid. Especially since it's a page amount what contributes to health, and again you'd have to have a shallow existence to call health a good measure of success.

So, again, please: what the are you talking about that's so much deeper and more profound than the cack I've dredged up from your posts thus far? And if you want to skip ahead to the "Name calling and then drop out of argument" phase, that's fine by me.

All those things combined contribute to WELL-BEING. And I consider a high level of well-being a measure of success. If you cannot see how anything you do (or set out to achieve ;) ) in your life is linked to those things, then you are the one that is thick.

Chill out, guys. Whatever the measure of individual human success is, this discussion is surely bound to drag you to the opposite direction :p
