It was my first time seeing SvD live.
Sander did what was expected from a five hour set... he played his big hits from the past couple years (Bliksem, Renegade, Daisy, etc.) and included some of the biggest trance songs from the past few months (Anphonic, 100, Moment, etc.).
He was always smiling and often held his arms in the air, but I felt there was little energy behind his movements. Contrast SvD's stage presence with Markus Schulz's dancing at Avalon a couple months ago,

(Markus was dancing to SvD's "Reach Out" in the clip, hehe)
I adore many of the songs SvD has produced, but I don't think I will go out of my way to see him live again. He did an adequate job, but nothing amazing IMO (I will download and listen to the entire set. Maybe listening to his set with fresh ears will change my mind.) |
