Yep...by the time you think you can get away from it someone always puts out another super-catchy tune with a supersaw lead.
And honestly I don't think the lack of variety is that bad...every genre has some characteristic that's beaten to death.
Tech-house: any clap pattern
House: blips and some drum patterns
Dubstep: wobble
Electro: fart bass
Etc...
Who else likes supersaw?

Takes balls to make a thread like this, I'll give ya that. For a forum site that's named "tranceaddict", you'd expect lots of trance fans here. But it seems as times change (I'm blabbering I know), so do the music tastes. Even though I'm fully aware this is a sort of general music forum, I can easily tell people love minimal, dubstep and house a lot more. Just my basic observation, correct my noob ass if I'm wrong. And that's cool, just hope I don't sound condescending.
I may have come off harsh in the past here, but I have to respect it. And most people's opinions on supersaw trance or crap churned out by the Armada label are actually justified. Most trance does seem overly commercialized pop junk. Took me a while to realize this as I've been away from the scene so to speak.
I'll just say that I do enjoy good "supersaw" trance now and then. It's mainly on a track by track basis, though. I find myself picking each track I find carefully on Beatport for instance. "To each his own" as they say and as long as the track moves you in your own personal way, that's all that counts. /end pointless babble :toothless
To stay on topic, I posted a supersaw record a few days ago. It's from 2005, but the "In My Dreams" track is one of those that I kinda actually enjoy. It sounds big, loud, melodic and makes you appreciate other trance tracks more.

Most of the Armada stuff is generic, but at the same time the poppy stuff can be fun if you don't think too hard about it.
The track I had in mind when making this thread was:
DNS Project - Uncross These Lines (Dub Mix)
Incredibly generic, but super fun.

I've been listening to lots of DNS Project-related tunes lately.. this is my most recent favorite atm:

Supersaw is being used by pop producers now. They always seem to be 10 years behind.

You are mostly wrong, people just love good music a lot more. And as most vocal users on here are more educated in music than the average Joe, pop supersaw trance just doesn't cut it. Minimal isn't even a genre and I seriously doubt more people here like dubstep than trance. That genre quickly went to with the flood of *WOBBLE WOBBLE*.
It doesn't take balls to make a thread like this, unless attentionwhores have them. You just put gasoline on the fire.

It doesn't even end there. Lately I've heard an alarming number of tracks where the melody was ripped straight from an old trance track and then some retard raps over it.

There is a thing I don't get. Why is the supersaw such a ty sound? Please don't say it's because it's been used 500 bazillion times, that's not so relevant, regarding how there are sounds that has been used way many more times. No, I want to know why you don't like it's characteristics.
IMO, I love the sound because of its rich, big-roomed sound with lots of reveerb, delay and choral effects that makes it sound like a thousand Super Space Violins of Doom!
BTW, I have yet to see examples from Mr. Mystery's latest statement, because if that's true...:nervous:

I don't think I know the titles or artists on any of them, and it'd be off topic anyway. Will make a thread if I find them again.

I know what you mean. I heard a horrible version of 1998 the other day at the gym with rap on. I'm pretty sure I've heard Café Del Mar as well.
